Guest guest
Yep...it's called ECI here...early childhood intervention, it's till the age of 3. Unfortunately they did NOTHING for my daughter. Sure they came out every week, for 45 minutes. The person who saw her was not an SLP and he spent more time talking with me than working with my daughter. I cancelled services. Now we have a wonderful SLP whom we have to pay for out of pocket because insurance views apraxia as a childhood illness that kids grow out of The concept is great, but like many government sanctioned actions, is very lacking...at least in my neck of the woods! -- [ ] regional center do you guys know that speech delays and other developmental delays might be helped beyond your insurance? It's federal laws that have to do with disabilities and rights. Children 0-5 are helped by early intervention groups that are sanctioned by the county where I live (in CA). So look into it... physical, social, occupational, etc There are a lot of services but you have to go look for them..
Guest guest
Our EI would not guarantee an SLP would be the provider, let alone an SLP who can deal with possible apraxia. Also, in NJ, they charge some of us for our " free " services. For now, we are happy doing our own thing, but we're glad EI is there for those who don't have any other options. > > Yep...it's called ECI here...early childhood intervention, it's till the age > of 3.
