Guest guest
, It was my environmental doctor (my form of DAN). I believe that I am seeing him next week to get the results of our autoimmune testing so I will inquire further about the carnitine but I am not having a good feeling. I remember that he actually called me in before my appointment to pick up a bottle of the carnitine and COQ10 plus glutathione to start supplementing immediately. This is a busy guy... he would not have done this if he hadn't thought it important. I see him 'handling' me. Each session, he teaches me about toxicity and has me work through new issues (last one was MSG) and lifestyle changes while monitoring Marks progress. After going to Utah with my son who turned into the Fart-King after a few days of restaurant food (yuck..... really stinky stuff too.... everyone around him was lacking pure oxygen)..... I could see my boy fading and am now going to order the Feingold diet listing so that I get it absolutely right. My kid NEEDS clean food and a clean environment in order to have a chance of getting better. Janice [sPAM]Re:[ ] Re: WAS: yet another MR NOW: Food and behavior story (sorry -- long!) Janice, Which doctor suggested the carnitine? If it was your environmental doctor, perhaps he meant " low average " ? Testable, low levels of carnitine are not common. Also, Ellen at NACD said that a lot of their kids supplement with carnitine because on paper it looks like it should really help. Yet, they haven't seen any big " wow's " with it. That has been our experience, too. Have you noticed a good effect from it? in NJ
Guest guest
We have found the Feingold list very helpful. It's great for the artificials, etc., but I especially like the information about MSG and HFCS, which is hidden even in 100% natural and organic packaged foods at Whole Foods. They also have a great bulletin board where you can ask just about any nutrition question and get an answer. Good luck with the test results! > > , > > It was my environmental doctor (my form of DAN). Guest guest
WF or Feingold has the bulletin board? This news disturbs me. I always ignored Feingold as we eat mainly who foods and I thought the whole grains and WF pure applesauce we bought was safe from this kind of stuff. It gets a little disheartening with these additives. > > > > , > > > > It was my environmental doctor (my form of DAN). Guest guest
That's my problem..... it's the hidden stuff! I am looking for it constantly but I know that I probably am missing half of it. I am ready for the Feingold help! Thanks for the good wishes. I'm going to buy that sauna today or tomorrow morning! Mark was sick today with a cold but still soooo neurotypical..... no regressions at all. That is absolutely a NEW one! Something good is definately happening inside his body. I blame it on the DMSA...... round 5 this weekend! Guest guest
Don't worry too much -- knowing you, you probably already researched the suspect ingredients. In my experience, " natural flavors " is where they hide most of the unlisted MSG and HFCS. Here's a link to a helpful list of where MSG is often hidden: http://www.truthinlabeling.org/hiddensources.html Here's a fantastic list of additives and the level of their negative impact on health (from OK to practically poison). http://www.cspinet.org/reports/chemcuisine.htm Here's a link to a list of a few packaged items that have HFCS. It's mostly bad food anyway. The only thing on that list that we have in our house is Heinz ketchup. (Not on the list, but I think Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce also has HFCS, and we have that one, too.) http://www.accidentalhedonist.com/index.php/2005/06/09/foods_and_produ cts_containing_high_fruct I couldn't find any links that list alternate names for HFCS, so I think it is usually listed or in natural flavors. If anyone knows differently, please let me know. We try to avoid this additive when possible. in NJ > > > > > > , > > > > > > It was my environmental doctor (my form of DAN). Guest guest
You give me credit I don't deserve. Someone actually gave me Feingold months ago and I ignored it. I guess you can only take on so much at once. I am choosing to believe it will be fine if I look now. Removing all the bad stuff at once back then would have likely put them in body shock! We got the word Daddy back...it only took 9 months. When I asked him where the word mommy was " Last heard, and only once mind you, on 5/10/07 " his direct response was " No " followed by a laugh. > > > > > > > > , > > > > > > > > It was my environmental doctor (my form of DAN). Guest guest
Geeze, I know that " No " word. It means " Cant Say. " a former classic word around here! -----Original Message----- From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of ilizzy03 Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 8:38 PM We got the word Daddy back...it only took 9 months. Guest guest
Feingold was one of the first things we did, maybe just after fish oil. We didn't have to give up too much, but verifying everything in the food list initially took some time. Now I do almost all of my shopping at Whole Foods, so I've gotten kinda lazy about checking the book. I need the 2008 one anyway, because my book is missing a lot of the newer products that we've been buying. I've been buying a lot of this " Back to Nature " brand, and the other day I called about an ingredient and they answered " Kraft Foods " . Now they are suspect in my eyes -- big companies usually think it's OK to hide ingredients. I need to clarify those labels ASAP. in NJ
