Guest guest
Holly- I am in the midst of changing over to organic cleaning (natural, non-chemical) products as well-- so I am interested in hearing replies. If anyone has some thoughts and would rather email me privately-- please feel free to do so. I do know that there was a recent email or link that someone provided or that I dug up in research, and the site had natural products that you could mix yourself for different cleaning purposes-- I'll try to see if I can find that link, because it was very useful. Guest guest
I have heard good things about 7th generation. We actually have a conservation place in town (I am in NJ you just do not know how strange and out of place this thing is)that is affiliated with the town so I buy stuff there to give back and it is actually cheaper. Whole foods has stuff as well but for 7th generation Target is cheaper. I make homemade cleaners for the bathroom like lemon juice and baking soda to scrub tub and tile. Here is an article someone sent me that may have some overlap: http://green.msn.com/Articles/article.aspx?aid=311 & GT1=10931 > > Hi: > I am looking to switch to some natural/organic cleaning products and > personal care products. My hair is OK, but flat initially, but if you dare try to skip a day of hair washing -- disaster! My hair feels tacky on day 2. I am just about ready to give up, but if anyone has a good recommendation, I'm all ears. Also, the Kiss My Face deodorant is not highly effective. What about using Arbonne products? They are supposed to be quite good Becky **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living. Guest guest
I've tried Greening the Cleaning products availble in most stores today or directly from the Imus Ranch Food website. (all proceeds go to the camp for terminally ill children with cancer) and they work great! I've purchased the All purpose cleaner, the window cleaner & the laundry detergent. I've just started using the brand METHOD dishwashing liquid and it works great too. I've also used seventh generation dishwashing liquid which worked great except you had to use alot of it..the METHOD brand seems to work better. Guest guest
Another alternative to paying as much as those great products cost - the book Clean House, Clean Planet has some great " recipes " for making your own cleaning products. They all use readily accessible " ingredients " like baking soda, lemon juice, distilled water, vinegar, and essential oils (there are some others but you can look in the book). I started making my own products for my own home about three or four years ago. Josh, at that time, was on Flovent, Proventil, took Singulair daily, and still had respiratory problems that sometimes required a nebulizer and albuterol. Since then, he's off everything except, in this cold weather, one puff of Flovent in the mornings. I'm attributing that to the absence of all the horrible stuff that is in store-bought cleaning products. I should also add that, even with Josh's respiratory stuff, we now have carpeting and two cats - and he's still sooo much better than he was with store-bought cleaners, hardwood floors, and a non-shedding dog. Really recommend getting the book and looking into trying it out. Guest guest
Vinegar, baking soda, olive oil, lemon, hydrogen peroxide, borax, vegetable glycerine, essential oils.... Thats a good start for making all you own green products for cleaning your home and your body. There a lots of websites for mixing these. It is very easy. We use these dishwasher, front loaders, etc. It feels great to go green.
Guest guest
I recently switched to Seventh Generation kitchen cleaner, dish soap, detergent and fabric softener, and so far, so good. I still use good old Shout to spray the vast array of stains. Personal care products is another story. I have now purchased four or five different shampoo/conditioner brands, and so far, no good. My hair is OK, but flat initially, but if you dare try to skip a day of hair washing -- disaster! My hair feels tacky on day 2. Tom's of Maine toothpastes are great, but you may have to try more than one flavor, especially for the kids. Mine like the Silly Strawberry floride-free one. And I do like the skin care products by Avalon Organics. Very gentle, very effective, and they smell good too. Hope that helps! in NJ > > Hi: > I am looking to switch to some natural/organic cleaning products and > personal care products. Can anyone make any recommendations? Guest guest
We have had good luck with vegetable glycerin soap for hair and body for the kids. For me (i have thick hair though) using Jarrons(?) shampoo is good. > > I recently switched to Seventh Generation kitchen cleaner, dish soap, > detergent and fabric softener, and so far, so good. Guest guest
Mango, the allergist tells me, is a pretty allergenic thing...may be behind that breath. > > In a message dated 2/25/2008 1:31:37 P.M.
