I haven't posted much about the mB12 shots to avoid another endless

thread of insults and retaliation, but...

Since starting them less than three weeks ago, Tyler is doing the

following:

--tons of productive babble

--blowing

--making " mmm, mmm " sounds

--occasionally repeating words and sounds

--a few new spontaneous words, although still not much well-

articulated language

--better receptive language

--he's in such a good mood! smiling and laughing all day long

--???maybe better sleep??? he slept through most of the nights for

the first ten days or so, but he's been waking once a night again.

He does have a cold, so we'll see for sure when that's over.

I am both thrilled and dismayed at this reaction. Thrilled about any

improvement, but dismayed because I need to ask myself, what does

this mean? What root cause are we dealing with here?

FYI -- the shots are a snap to give. I do them by myself with no

numbing cream. No problem. Anybody interested in more information

should definitely check out www.neubrander.com There is soooo much

information there, and he's the guy who discovered this as one of

many possible treatments. I believe his patients primarily have

autism, but my son does not (according to me, EI, regular

pediatrician, and DAN pediatrician). He also lists reliable

pharmacies that he can vouch for, which is very important for this

treatment. (Apparently, not all compounding pharmacies are created

equal. I think our shots come from the same pharmacy he uses,

Hopewell Pharmacy in NJ. Aren't we lucky to live near a good one!)

No one minds seeing what works for anyone's child. The insults come

from people insisting that what they are doing is the only way to go.

We all just want to see balance. If diet is working...great, If fish oil is

working....great. It's just when people get frantic in their insistance that

you HAVE to do something that people get riled.

I think it's great that your son is responding to the mB12 shots, you must

be really excited about that and so you should.

Here's hoping that Tyler makes tons more gains!

Don't ever feel intimidated for trying to help others - If someone

does not want to read your posts they should just skip them. I can't

tell you how many people look at me like I have a second head when I

tell them my son started speaking with the addition of fish oil. He

also started making eye contact, had improved speech and

concentration, and many other gains with the addition of the vitamin

E.

There are a lot of kids out there that need much more help than just

fish oil and vitamin E. I stood on the sidelines during the last mud

slinging. It really bothered me but I tried to stay out of it. If

someone's child is completely cured with just the fish oil and

vitamin E you're very very lucky (and probably in the minority).

Enough of that...

Was your child a responder to Vitamin E? My child was an incredible

responder (also to the fish oils) and after reading Dr. Bock's book I

discovered that Vitamin E helps your body produce glutathione. I

knew it was a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory but I had never

read that it was a precursor to glutathione. We have also added NAC

(n-acetyl cystein) another precursor to glutathione and have gotten

improvements with that too. MB-12 also helps the body produce

glutathione.

My son's OAT results indicated low glutathione. We're going to be

starting the shots in the next 2 weeks. I'm so scared I'm going to

hurt him - I know I'll be sweating my butt off! I'm not expecting

huge results because he's come so far with the Vitamin E, fish oil,

NAC, singulair (which was for severe allergies but has improved his

speech dramatically), digestive enzymes, and brainchilds multi

vitamin & minerals. I am expecting gains though.

I'm hoping this will help eliminate some of the hyper ADHD type

symptoms he still has. His speech is almost where it should be. We

still have some blood tests we need to do to see where his vitamin

and mineral levels are. This could be a factor too.

Just one more step - as long as it's forward, we're happy.

Keep posting!

Hmm. I'm going to have to mull this post over all day today. I

still can't decide if he is a vitamin e responder. I thought so, but

then he got too hyper, so I backed off the higher doses. Then I

accidentally left all of our vitamin E at my sister's. Two weeks

later, I had the E back BUT he hadn't lost any skills so I didn't

start it up again. Sometimes we get so obsessed looking for the

obvious signs (yesterday, not talking; today, talking!) that we

forget that we are in this for the long haul. I'm going to read all

the vitamin E stuff again. Thanks for the kind words and the kick in

the butt, too!
