Even getting up to go to the bathroom in the night required sneakers on. Well, that can really bring a person down, being able to wear NOTHING but sneakers. How does one go to a wedding or whatever with sneakers on?!? Well, I did as I had no choice. Well, this summer I decided that I was going to find something else than I would be able to wear comfortably come hell or high water, no matter the price. I had a sandal type shoe in mind. What I found was right under my nose..Nike Air sandals...when I first saw them,. I thought oh no..they're not going to feel good and they look awful!1 I was allowed to take them home for a couple of days to try them after I explained the situation and , THEY ARE WONDERFUL!! So I was able to bare my feet and even wear a few dressier clothes this summer. I reccommend Nike air shoes of any type. The arthritis affects all aspects of my feet and ankles and these are so comfortable..well worth the price and their not as expensive as Beirkenstocks! Guest guest
Dear Listserve, In relation to April's and many other replies to the Subject - Bad Luck with Men. First thing, One has to be proud of one self, as April and Gret have said. Second thing, its not easy, but we have to get away from the " Why Me " attitude, not just in Romance, but in everything that affects short statured people. We are short, we cant change it, and we have to accept it and adapt to it. Its not easy to accept sometimes, even harder if you are in the " minority " and are gay.We must give credit to the ones who accept their life openly, and learn from them. Lastly, its not just members of the female sex that have problems, males also have problems. We should all work together to help each other, be friends, maybe lovers, and reduce the negativity between the sexes. If we cant help each other, and not have wars, how do we expect the Big Buggers to accept us in everyday life. Guest guest
Everyone, I have some ??? First of all..I haven't been on the group list for a few weeks so I've lost touch with things... 1. I just joined ww and am not doing very well...having far too many points.. However, I just re started ll again and am hoping it will help. they told me at ww to not do any new exercises but I can continue with the current ones.. do you see any harm in trying to do ll 2 times per day..a couple days per week? I have been waking up at night and eating..maybe I can substitute a few breathes instead of food? will that keep me awake more? 2. If I do them just sitting, will that work? I figgure at my pc in am..and at work. also, my waist is very thick and the additional weight has now started infiltrating my back too..gained about 13 poinds this last year and that was with trying sb (sugarbusters) and ss(somercise)..I just have not been successful with anything..my fault..I need more regiment like ww I think. 3. how do you do them at work? do you not pah outloud? that is it for now. Must run.. what exercises are good to do while on the pc and for upper back and back and waist in general.... any feedback would be appreciated... Guest guest
Hi Ellen, Welcome to wonderful LL. You'll love it. It's so relaxing and yet energizing as well. You'll love this list too. Try and read the posts daily, you'll get a lot of motivation and love from our list. It's important to report in daily and let us know how you're doing. This will help you and it will also help us. We're here to help each other to reach our goals. It is fine for you to do 2 workouts a day. But don't overdo it. You may want to just do 40 LL breath stretches 4 or 5 days a week for a while and then build up to doing more if you want too. The workout #2 video has some sitting exercises on it. Here are 3 back exercises: 1. Stand with your hands on your waist slightly to the front, now do the breathing, while you are holding your breath move your elbows forward while keeping your hands on your waist. 2. Stand, knees bent, hold your arms like you would if you were going to do bicep curls, but instead of your wrists on top, turn them in so that they face each other. Now do the breathing and while you're holding your breath, try and pinch your elbows together in the back ( of course you can't really get them together). Do this movement as many times as you can while holding your breath. This one has helped me a lot. 3. Get on your hands and knees, do the breathing, while you're holding your breath arch up like a cat. Waist exercises: 1. Lay on your back knees bent, now cross one of your legs over the other one (like a man crosses his legs). Do the breathing. Now while you're holding your breath, lift up and reach your knee with your opposite hand. Repeat on the other side. 2. Stand or sit, do the breathing, and while you are holding your breath slightly bend to the side and reach over your head and stretch. 3. Stand, knees bent, do the breathing and while you're holding your breath move your waist sideways back and forth. Try not to move your shoulders or your lower body. I hope this helps. If you don't understand some of the exercises let me know and I'll try to explain better. If anyone else can explain these better please do. Have a great day! Keep in touch! Drink your water. Guest guest
Hi Ellen, Think of it this way, you can't breathe too much. Adding Life Lift to your regime with WW will enhance the benefits you receive from eating healthier. This is not like doing weight lifting or working out in the gym, this is simply adding the one thing to your body that can actually burn fat for you, oxygen. I have had many sleep therapists send people to me over the years to learn Life Lift since it helps your body relax. You can just do a few in place of eating something that will pack on the pounds and make it even more difficult to sleep. I often do them just sitting, while at the computer or while driving. I suggest you tighten your rear end, like a seated pelvic tilt to give your hind end a nice lift. If you are doing Life Lift correctly you will find it will trim your waist line just by doing the flexing of the actual lift. Try pulling your abdomen muscles up and back toward the back of the chair. It is amazing how quickly you can whittle your waist and tighten your tummy by doing this. You can do a silent pah by doing your pah more like a deep sigh down into your belly. I do it like this all of the time now and I love the way it feels. Good luck, and welcome to our list. Guest guest
Dear Ellen...I had to pause and take a look and a second look to really see what you had written. I hope I could help you out a little. Everybody will give you pretty good advice but the BEST advice I got was to practice being healthy, eating GOOD food, eating at regular intervals. This is a big problem for me as I am in the car much of the day and I tend to wait until I could bite down on the rearview mirror before I get a chance to eat! Eat a little bite...of something fairly healthy and tasty (don't obsess on food!) and even though you won't feel full at that moment (be sure you drink PLENTY of water...even in my car travels I do this and it has done me ENORMOUS good)...you will have had SOMETHING and you won't bite the arm of your chair!...or run to the snack machine. I can pah without the loud voice...it depends on how noisy your work environment is...what you CAN do even in a quiet environment is breathe out completely and then do the diaphragmatic lift part and suck in your tummy as you hold your breath OUT for about 8 to 10 seconds. It is " half a LL breath " , without the loud pahhhhhhhhhhhhhh but half a LL is better...oh, well, nevermind! And now I am treading in dangerous waters: I am suspicious of many diets and regimented diets in particular: I have a good understanding of low carbing and much of that makes sense but we are INDIVIDUALS and what works for some doesn't work for others. I find there are DAYS I can eat carbs okay and others I can't. When you get into rigid eating this is not good for your body OR your mind! I am working on this even now: retraining my head to think of how the food gets used. When I see things like points earned or taken away over eating then this is external rather than internal...and it has more to do with CONTROL than freedom. I want to be free to eat what is good for ME!...one example is EVERYBODY KNOWS orange juice is good for you, right??? NOPE!!! to me it is like POISON!!! tastes terrible, breaks out my mouth, and the smell of someone even peeling an orange frequently makes me nauseous...yet I can do grapefruit or eat blood oranges, go figure! Be free, Ellen eat simply, frequently, and be sure to drink that water...I can't tell you what good about 3 days of disciplined drinking: forcing myself...did. I drink water all the time now. Love and pahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Lib Ellen wrote: > any feedback would be appreciated... > Thanks, > > Ellen

Guest guest
(P.S. No offense, but I have some doubts about all that water. I don't think its been demonstrated, and as someone who hates to drink it, I can attest to how laborious you recommendation may become for everyone involved. JMO).> When I'm trying to drink more water, I get a two-liter bottle of carbonated water and put a little lime or lemon juice in it. (Cheaper than Perrier, and tastes better than water.) If you drink coffee or Coke, you need to count a caffeinated drink as about half what it is, because the diuretic in it will remove the other half. Guest guest
I use a theraputic water pillow. The top is like a regular pillow and the other side has a casing that hold water. There is a cap you fill it to the firmness you want and cap it. I have had it for 4 years now and it is wonderful!!! I got it from my Chiropractor. This solves the problem that everyone wants a different firmness in their pillow and you can keep that firmness by just adding water. humbyrd kombucha tea wrote: There are 25 messages in this issue. I subscribe to Frederic Patenaude's e-letter. He is a raw-food advocate and has written a book (or maybe 2). This perspective on Candida is very different than I've heard before. This Week’s Featured Topic: How to Beat Candida Understanding the Real Issue ********************************************** I often get questions about candida. Many people tell me that they want to get rid of their candida problems but are afraid to eat a lot of fruit. They want to know the best way to solve this issue naturally. Here’s one letter I received: “I'm a 100% raw vegan, currently on Cousen's Phase candida cure program, religiously. I've had no relief at all from my candida in over a year of trying: 30 days of this raw program, then that raw program, then another raw program...” HERE’S WHAT I SAY: The way to beat candida is simple: you have to understand that candida is an issue that comes from eating too much fat, not too much sugar. When we eat too much fat, that excess fat in the bloodstream diminishes insulin sensitivity, so sugar isn’t carried out as fast as it should to the cells. It accumulates in the bloodstream, feeding the candida yeast that is naturally present there. The candida then proliferates to “eat up” the excess sugar. The answer isn’t to consume less sugar, or to try to kill the candida — but to go at the root of the problem, that is, to consume less fat. Here’s useful information on the topic from Dr. Graham’s FAQs (available at: http://www.foodnsport.com) Please note that my book “The Raw Secrets” and my course “How to End Confusion About Nutrition” explore the problems related with excess fat consumption. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why shouldn’t I eat all the avocados, nuts, and seeds I want? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Avocados, nuts and seeds are extremely high in fat content. When it comes to fat, it doesn’t matter so much its origin; fat is fat. Fat goes from the lymph system directly into the blood. Too much fat will thicken the blood, causing the red blood cells to clump together so they cannot deliver oxygen to the cells. Excess fat also blocks the action of insulin in bringing sugars to the cells, which leads to diabetes. It is better to eat small amounts of avocados, nuts and seeds, and not to eat them daily. There is more than adequate fat for the body from fruits, vegetables and leafy greens. Eventually, it is best to get away from desiring to feel a heavy feeling after a meal, as this is an indicator that the digestive system is being overworked. In order to feel satisfied, it is best to eat large amounts of sweet fruit, which may pass through your stomach quickly, but will appease true hunger for hours. True hunger is a sensation primarily in the low throat, much like the feeling of thirst, but a bit lower, about where the " notch " is at the bottom of the neck. Hunger is not, as is commonly believed, felt in the stomach. The feeling is felt deep in the throat, a sensation that is similar to a dull ache. In health, when true hunger is felt, there is no urgency for food since the body knows it has reserves for its use in time of need. You should be at all times comfortable in your body. The sensation of the stomach is often the result of the muscular walls of the stomach shrinking after the digestive task of the last meal. If a perceived feeling of hunger is accompanied with feelings of faintness, stomach pangs, headaches or other discomforts of the body, it is a sign of withdrawal from harmful substances. A healthy person can skip a meal or two with no feelings of weakness or distress. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have candida or a yeast infection, and I’ve been told to avoid too much sugar. How can I eat so much sweet fruit when it’s full of sugar? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Excess fat is the culprit in candida, not sugar, per se. When fat levels in the blood rise, so does blood sugar, because excess fat inhibits insulin from performing its function of escorting sugar out of the bloodstream. The excess fat lines the blood vessel walls, the cells’ insulin receptor sites, the sugar molecules themselves, and the insulin with a thin coating of fat, thus blocking and inhibiting normal metabolic activity. Too much sugar in the blood is as life threatening as too little and can result in serious illness or death. Yeast, or candida, is a constant presence in the blood; it serves as a life preservation mechanism, blooming when there is an excess of sugar in the blood stream to bring blood sugar down to a non-threatening level. When the sugar is distributed and used by the cells of the body, the yeast quickly dies off as it is supposed to. If fat levels stay chronically high due to a poor diet, sugar will remain in the bloodstream and feed the large candida colonies instead of feeding the 18 trillion cells of your body. Starved for fuel, these cells can no longer metabolize energy, and you become tired, and feel rundown. Because all carbohydrate, fat, and protein that we eat is converted to simple sugar (glucose) if it is to be used by the cells for fuel, the way out of this cycle is not to eat less sugar, but to consume less fat. When fat levels drop, the sugar starts to get processed and distributed again, and the yeast levels drop because there is no longer excess sugar available. -- FREDERIC: To conclude, the advice I give to people who ask me about candida is to go on a really low-fat diet for a while, avoiding all oil, nuts and avocado. The problem is generally solved within a few weeks, if not a few days. Often people have been battling with this for years and get instant relief from doing this low-fat diet. After that period, then small quantities of fatty foods can be reintroduced, as explained in my book, The Raw Secrets. Personal testimony: a friend of mine came back from Cuba where she ate only raw fruits & vegetables, along with the water of several coconuts, without any fatty foods. She did that for 6 weeks and overcame a candida issue that, in her own words, “seemed to have been eternal.” *********** ******************** >From: " L.Win " >Reply-kombucha tea >kombucha tea >Subject: candida >Date: Tue, 03 May 2005 12:36:42 -0700 > > > I think KT does dissolve candida; this article says so. > > Candida is a symbiotic yeast that dwells in the digestive tract and has >some USEFUL functions like chelating havy metals and taking them out of the >body. >The problem is with Candida OVERRUN. >When the intestinal climate is acidic and the food is provided for it, >[sugars, staches, refined carbs] and in the absence of natural predators >[good pro biotics] the candida will overpopulate and cause many problems. >Tart KT is not condusive to candida so will help keep it at bay. > But the main protocol is to avoid the feeding the candida it's preferred >food and supplement the pro biotics in the body by taking >acidophilu/bifidus supplements on an empty stomach washed down with lots of >water, This will soon keep the Candida in it's place. > rusty > candida >Date: Tue, 03 May 2005 12:36:42 -0700 > > > I think KT does dissolve candida; this article says so. > > Candida is a symbiotic yeast that dwells in the digestive tract and has >some USEFUL functions like chelating havy metals and taking them out of the >body. >The problem is with Candida OVERRUN. === message truncated === __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi all, I would like to help a friend in California to start brewing Kombucha. I could send her a baby if I knew how to ship it without spoiling it.(I am in NYC.) Meanwhile I was wondering if I could find a group member, willing to donate a Kombucha baby, close enough to her place, so she could pick up the baby and the starter. She lives in BREA, CA 92821. Guest guest
I've used the same way Gunther says to and have sent cultures all over. Chris www.kountrykombucha.com How to mail a Kombucha culture Gunther W. I mail Kombucha cultures like this: I put the culture including a glass (about 9 ounces) of ready fermented beverage (very important!) in a plastic bag, like one use it for deep freezing food in a deep-freeze. Then I seal the bag with a bag sealer. This bag I put into another bag which I seal again. So it is double sealed. For mailing I put the double sealed bag into a box and fill the interspace with styropor flocs. Thus I already sent cultures round the whole world, and they all arrived in good order.
