First, I wanted to thank all of you who responded to my question

about wether to tell the child they have AS or not. We will be

telling my son jacob over the summer to give him time to prepare for

next year.

Also we just got back from our IEP meeting and it went well in

some parts and poorly in others. On the one hand we got a lot of what

we asked for (weighted vest, help with emotional issues, extended

homework and test time. But on the other hand we still aren't sure if

we got an aide full time, and we lost our FSS monies, which is a huge

blow to our income. With the money from FSS I could afford to stay

home with my kids. They said the fact that my son wasn't going into

the resurce room ( which I didn't know there was such a thing or what

it's used for) would make us ineligible for Family Support Subsidy.

It's a catch twenty two situation. Either we fight to have the

resource room put into the IEP and go against what we've been working

toward (having him in with the other kids and as normal a day as

possible) or we start selling off our belongings and put the kids

into daycare so I can get a job. Either way we lose!! I am so

frustrated! What kind of a choice is that to make? GRRR...........

How were you getting FSS money to begin with if he wasn't in the resource

room? Also, be sure and ask to see the criteria for the FSS money in

writing. You would be surprised how many times a rule isn't really a rule at

all - just something someone made up. ASK.
