TIA! Dear Tia: I'm behind in my e-mail. My 7 year old dd has been on Zoloft for a year, but she takes it in conjunction with Risperdal. We have wonderful results with this combination. I've heard that children should be given a mood stabilizer like Risperdal in conjunction with an SRI(?) like Zoloft, but not sure of the exact reason, probably because of the possibility of manic behaviour. Zoloft is generally regarded to be safe for children. Paxil is not. I've also heard that Zoloft loses its effectiveness after a few years; so in time, switching to a new med may be beneficial.
