you could be surprised. that is what I thought too, and yet when I say " the

gameboy please " he yells and screams and whines and cries WHILE going to

the room getting the gameboy and handing it to me......

Actually , I haven't have to do this in quite a while.

I agree with Roxanna here, we only have one computer at home, and it is teh

family's computer, and teh kids get " computer time " . each kid is responsibel

for his computer time. if he loses it for bad behaviour, it does not affect

the other kid......

I agree. Gameboy is a destresser for . THe CD player is one for .

BUT-- I'll be doggoned if they are going to use that as an EXCUSE to

misbehave. And believe you me, many times they know EXACTLY what they are doing.

ASD kids are just as capable of manipulating us as our NT kids are.

But this is not at all the point I was making. I was discussing how to

de-escalate a situation and often times, people with autism have trouble

doing that. They will hand flap, spin things, rip paper or in my own son's

case, play gameboy. Actually he did the spinning and the ripping and the

school and I did prefer the gameboy. We made it the acceptable plug in over

the other two things he would do. .>>>>
