There was a recent article in the Washington Post about bipolar disorder in

children. It said they typically go through cycles from mania to depression

many times in a single day. That's why it's so hard for psychiatrists to

diagnose them -- they manifest BP disorder in a very different way from

adults. The article also said that if they are misdiagnosed and given the

wrong medication, their situation can worsen instead of improving.

I will look for the article if you'd like me to!

I am surprised to hear that chlorella is a joke as a mercury chelator, since

I know that I have a heavy load of mercury (the kind from fish, not the kind

from fillings, according to Dr. Cheney), and when Cheney gave me chlorella,

it knocked me flat. I was very, very sick and had to stop taking it. If it

wasn't chelating the mercury, I wonder what it was doing that made me so

sick (Cheney thought it was chelating the mercury, but that my load of

mercury was too heavy to safely chelate it with chlorella.)

I am wondering if there is a weaker chelator of mercury which I could use.

I don't have a doctor handy who will do the IV's for me.

(My regular doctor is a family practitioner and he is only able to go so far

in treating the CFS.)

ACAM should have a list. I think you are in Florida, right? Maybe

Neubauer's center would know--he's in Ft Lauderdale--they might know

who is near you.

Annete,

I've tried to stay clear of soy, though not completely. It is one of a number

of mostly vegetable products that supposedly decrease your thyroid hormone

level, and increase your TSH. Others include cabbage, brocolli, collards, and

others I don't recall. Some one coined the name for them, goitrogens, since

they supposedly could cause or worsen goiter as one of their effects.

I talked with a local dietician/nutritionist at the med school here, to whom I

was referred by the American Dietetic Assn. She'd never heard of them, and when

she did some research, found very little.

It really pisses me that they through this restriction out there, and then don't

follow up so you can follow it meaningfully,if it really is a valid concern.

I'm juST as concerned with Fluoride in drinking water, which there are some ways

of getting around. and with fluoride in toothpastes--there are some made

without it, like Tom's, for one.

Let's all try to press our providers for more on this, and keep each other

informed,

Good luck,

For what its worth here is my take:

I was diagnosed with heart disease over 10 years ago, I becames a vegetarian

with the help of Soy and mostly soy. I ate tofu, soy meats, soy meatballs, soy

cheese soy everything.

My condition heart disappeared to my doctors amazement. Ah! you say there is the

proof but!

My mother was thyroid, my sister was thyroid it runs in my family. OK not

enough? I am 63 y/o. Most thyroid problems that I have read about start in

women from their 20's to their 40's.

If soy was such a hinderance then why did I wait so long to get it?

This is not scientifiic I know but it leads me to believe if I have all this

against me why did I wait so long?

I think the soy made me healthy so that I did not get thyroid early like my

family and most women.

I justs read several reports about the soy controversy. It comes out to be

50/50.

As far as I am concerned if they cannot agree, how are we supposed to know what

is right. If there is no concrete eveidence that soy is harmful then it cannot

possibly be enough to harm us.

What do you think?

It's not anywhere near a 50/50 thing. Put SOY TOXINS into Google

sometime and follow some of the leads. Big Agribusiness has spent

untold millions of dollars to convince you that a substance not fit for

human consumption is not only _not_ harmful, but instead is a health

food product. I think it's one of the most successful

advertisement/propaganda achievements of all time. At least look at the

other side of their propaganda before you buy into it.

Possibly 60% of the products on your grocery store shelf contain some

type of soy, and not all of them tell you that they do. You probably

get far more soy than you need even if you try to avoid it completely

unless you grow and prepare most or all of your food.

Luck,

Well I do grow much of my own food, fruits and vegetables.

But there is one more government scam and that is that cholesterol is bad for

you.

I do not want to get into it but when I became a vegetarian my cholesterol went

up, as soon as I ate meat my cholesterol went down.

I have proved that to my doctor many times and he no longer offers me Lipitor.

:-)

I could go on and on about medical scams.
