Way to go Bonnie!

Are you on prednisone now? I am trying to be as proactive as possible. I have always wanted to join weight watchers but my husband has always balked at the cost. Now he tells me that the cost is worth my health so I am going to jump on it. He was always like, I can't believe you have to pay someone to tell you what to eat. Now he is very supportive of it.

I wanted to chat with those of you who are married about spouses, but it made me emotional everytime I went to write an email. My husband is coming around now and being supportive but for the first little while he wsa horrible. I actually told him to leave if he was so miserable. It was like he was mad that I had this, which is understandable, but he was mad at me! We have gotten through that and he is being as supportive as he knows how right now. He reminds me of Jerry, he keeps sending me more websites and articles.

My doctor stated that it was a great idea to join Weight Watchers. I follow the Winning Points program. I gained 60lbs from the prednisone in a year, but I have now lost 8lbs in 3 weeks on the program. I feel much better already.

I am pretty calm about it, but just a little nervous. This is 'the appointment' where I get my treatment plan. I have a list of questions for her, will you all look through and add any that I am forgettig?1. How serious is this. (I have done my research but I need to hear this from her)2. I am going to make sure my exercise program is good.3. What foods, vitamins, medicines should I avoid.4. I am asking for a referral to a rheumatologist, who is going to monitor my meds while GI is on maternity leave.5. What warrants a call to the doctor. (I had a bloody nose and gums last week and didn't know if I should call or not.)6. Any chemicals or cleaning supplies (hey I can dream!) to avoid. I like to refinish antiques.7. Is it ok for me to join weight watchers.8. What are some bad reactions to meds that I would need to be aware of.She already told me I will be getting blood drawn at regular intervals, more frequent at first, but that we will eventually taper down on blood draws.

I am still on the prednisone, but I am being weaned off of it. I started out a year ago on 60mg a day. I am now down to 10mg a day and my levels are staying even so far.

started her residential program today. Bringing her down to the

school was easier than I thought. We had no problems (knock on wood) with

her when we had to leave her at the school. I just called her 'cottage' and

they tell me that she is adjusting pretty well.

********Great news!!!!!!!!!!! I am glad it was such an easy transition.

The only problem we had today was with her (now EX) psychiatrist.

*********What a jerk - I can't stand people (including doctors) who think

they are so much above it all. Their title is more important than your

child.

and you are right - he probably would have charged you for the missed

appointment.

The psych asked her if there was a psychiatrist on staff at the

school. When he was told that there was, he said 'Have them call me' and

HUNG UP THE PHONE!

The nurse then called the school psychiatrist, who ordered the medication

for (actuallly, he/she just ordered the Clonidine, since we had

planned to take her off the Trileptal anyway (she had developed a tic from

the medication in addition to the suspected liver problems - which btw we

retested her for... I'm waiting to hear the results of the last set of

tests.)

Well, that's the latest from here. Patti R.

**************Patti - I hope her results come back ok. That is scary.

Sending good thoughts your way.

Take care

Dawn
