Guest guest Posted May 1, 2003 Report Share Posted May 1, 2003 Hi 's show Me and My Girl opened last night, there are about 12 performances, Thur-Sat for three weeks with two on Saturday. The show poked fun at the English Gentry and nearly every time Gerald () who is described as an upper class nit wit opened his mouth it was to throw a temper tantrum. The story is about a fishmonger, Bill from London's East End who inherits an earldom and the grooming of him to fit the role. A sub plot surrounds Bill's girlfriend Sally whom Bill wants to be with him and the nasty dutches who wants Sally out of the picture because she 'too common'. The twist comes towards the end when Sally has elocution lessons from a certain colonel (references to My Fair Lady without mentioning it by name). As you can imagine, the show is a comedy and it just about had me in hysterics.... They say that things improve as the season progresses, I think the cast will have a hard job improving on what they did on opening night as it was truly a first rate performance.
