<< I just mentioned it in a post not long ago - he HATES when i get a haircut.

color often !!! >>

Now I have a good reason to be the abnormal person that I am in that I have

never colored my hair, and have never even considered it. LOL

This may be way he was very hesitant when he took the tour with me when I joined

the gym. He saw the other (way more buff) women and said he didn't want me to

look like that. He expressed great distress when my husband wanted to shave off

his beard after he lost a lot of weight.

That did happen, but months after the inital desire.

The buff mommy thing has *never* happened. ;)

<<This

website has the official psychological criteria for AS, as well as

several other authored criteria. http://www.isn.net/~jypsy/whataspe.htm>>

This was very interesting, and I am more and more thinking my son has AS as a

base problem.

One thing I had not read before was the face recognition problem. I did an

engine search on the web and read of one women's story of her life with that

problem. If I get my hair cut when my son is at school, sometimes he won't

believe it's me picking him up. My other son can pick me out from across the

school. ;) I wonder if he has a touch of this?

Last year, I got a note on a report card, I believe, that he did not know his

classmate's names. I thought that was a little odd, so I got out his class

picture and he named all except two. The two--he knew they were M and S, but

didn't know which was which. Well, if they weren't standing side by side, I

couldn't tell them apart either even though I frequently worked in the

classroom. They weren't twins, but same nationality, same hair, some build,

etc, both wore headbands or scarves most days. I wonder if he just was never

able to find a distinguishing feature about either of them.

He doesn't know everyone is his class this year, that doesn't surprise me. It

takes all his energy just to make it through the day without falling apart.

Jackie,

The official name for this is prosopagnosia. If you do a search

engine search, you will find that there are websites on this topic -

most are made by people who have the condition. In the cases of

people who are born with it, it is most common in people with autism

spectrum disorders. My son was telling me, from the time he was four

years old, that he was faceblind. But, having no context from which

to draw, I didn't get it. I just didn't know that there was such a

thing as people who can't recognize faces. Certainly like most

things, there are degrees of it. Some people who have it wouldn't

recognize their own mothers on a crowded street. Others, will learn

to recognize the people who are important to them. My son never

learned the names of the kids in his class. Still doesn't.

in FL,

Is the old computer game The Incredible Machine still around? I bet your son

would love it! You have to design a machine to blow out a candle. On the way,

however, you may have to drop a bowling ball on a trampoline, run some gerbils

on a treadmill, send some balloons in the air, and finally drop a tennis ball on

a bellows handle which blows out a candle. My kids loved this. There is also a

free form version where they can make up their own machines. But it's pretty

old. I don't know if it's still around.

Liz, I think we have a game called, " Incredible contraptions " You design all

sorts of gears to do specific tasks and go from level to level.

hi Janette,

Thanks for solving the problem. But I wrote exactly the same as it was written

there. Its on techlectures website quizzes bank. The answer to second problem they

have interpreted as 2.64 ml/min instead of 1.28 which is also in the

alternatives. The first problem there answer is 5.53 which is closet to our

answer 5.93 so is the chosen alternative.

Thanks
