Jill Jill--- The way it got started was a new family moved down the block from me, she has a son with HFA and a son with AS. Her son and my son were really different, but we decided to start a social group together, we met for lunch and went from there. I knew a boy from my son's religious school that had AS, and I also met one at therapy where my son received O.T. It started with only 4 boys now we have about 7-8 and one girl. The rest kind of came from various places that we all knew, some from the school and others from a group that gets together at CARD. Anyway it has been wonderful we are having a holiday party for the boys next week this past weekend we went bowling. The mom's also get to be support for each other. I know of another mom here that started a social group for her daughter who is 18, that is actually where I first came up with the idea, she advertised in the local section of our newspaper and they did an article for her, she now has about 10 kids in that age group, since my son at the time was 12 he did not fit into that group so I stared my own but I did not advertise, each week we seem to be adding more boys too our group, and; yes the one girl does well with them lol. LUAZA @aol.com is the other mom's e mail that started a young adult group if you want to e mail her she is great and willing too share her groups activities. Sometimes it only takes two too start it and then go from there good luck Jill!!!!!
