Hi there

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good test/eval to do on a four/five year

old with aspergers? We are meeting with a nother psychologist tomrorow to

try to get a third opinion. We have had the Stanford-Binet, Vineland and BASC.

thanks a ton

They used something called GADS with our son but don't know if that can be

used with a 5 year old. I think it is mostly orally given, so probably so.

Ask docs about that one.

There is no one in our city who knows anything...there are no known experts.

We live in a very strong medical community and in a city (Memphis) with over

a million people and I can only find clinicians who have seen one or two

autistic kids...weird...there is a big push by a mom here to open an autism

center...she has amazing plans but takes her kids out of state for things. We

simply

can't afford that...

Hi,

They used ADOS on my son. I think the key is to try to find a

psychologist or psychiatrist with experience treating kids with ASDs.

They are more likely to believe in an ASD diagnosis which is

neurological and not a mental illness at least thats been my

experience.

Hi,

My geography is really poor and I am not sure where in Tenn. Memphis

is. The site below is for Mid-Tennessee. They list support services

and other information based on the county you are interested in. This

might help. I am currently looking for another site that I used in my

search for a behavior group with experience in autism in land.

They had a state by state listing that was wonderful. If I find it I

will post it for you. In the mean time, I hope this helps.

Hi,

I don't know if you have tried any of these places to try to find

experts. I can't vouch for any; I just found them with google.
