Guest guest
Excuse my > shouting, but KIDS DON'T HAVE TO FAIL TO OBTAIN SERVICES! Ok, I have a question ....I just received the final grade report card. Lane in first grade received a handful of A,B,and C's ( some of which were circled I guess because handwriting dissabilities were taken into consideration )and in Math across the board each and every semester and final grade was an " F " . They passed her on to second grade. She received OT throughout the year for fine motor issues and also resource room with the SE teacher who also worked on fine motor ( handwriting, cutting, coloring, etc. )So they have been double working on motor. I am waiting on the " official " letter comfirming that we have a meeting in place for the first week of the new school year in August. I assume that I will not be out of line to ask for help in the area of Math?

Guest guest
Absolutely not. Get her help in math. Most kids with AS have an area that they're weak in - or else they wouldn't have IEPs! got lots of help with written language. We'll see if it helped enough come September, when he transitions into mainstream classes. Go for it, Liz wrote: > Ok, I have a question ....I just received the final > grade report card. Incidentally, my daughter just got her Iowa Test scores back and she did not do well, and dismally in math. Does your daughter have an IEP? I might have missed this in prior posts. Has she had an educational evaluation? > Roxanna ôô Roxanna ..... they did a MFE in kindergarten including a WISC-III,OT,PT,speech,CAPD,etc. Most all results came out average to low average so they could not agree to offer services. Interstingly enough they agreed there were issues but were unable to qualify her based on test results and the only one who would not sign the papers was the school psych. I then brought in two parent mentors who came out to our house and did their own testing, they accompanied me to the meeting at the administrative building where there were close to 10 people in attendance ( but not the psych, thank goodness she either was not invited or declined ). She had a WPPSI-III,VMI,W-J-III, and a NEPSY done at Akron Children's Medical and this is where she was given the dx. Now I am wondering if the school can do tests to find her SLT's ( student learning traits )? Do you know if this is done or can be done? I think that is what I need to know the most at this point to be prepared for the IEP in August. I believe she is a very **visual** learner and I want the accomodations set up to make the most of her learning style. I feel that if they present work to her in the correct manner she will do really well.
