How about lunchmeat rolled up and then placed in a small sandwich bag and

cheese rolled up and placed in a sandwich bag. Then pack club or ritz

crackers and he can " put them together " himself. Meat in between 2 crackers

- eat it. Then cheese in between 2 crackers.

Will he eat tuna fish?? How about peanut butter on crackers and jelly on

the side that he can put on new " clean " crackers. My aspie likes baby

carrots - dipped in ranch dressing. How about cold chicken? cold roast

beef? GOOD LUCK !!!! spaghetti in a thermos. soup. cereal in a tupperware

bowl and then he can add the milk at school.

My son is a very picky eater that doesn't like to try new foods. He

dosen't like " mixed together " foods, that is food with more than 1

ingredient. He has to have almost all of his food separated like a

sandwich has to be bread slices, next to the meat, next to the cheese.

I have tried rewarding him for taking a taste of new foods, ones that

I thinks he would like, it has worked to a degree. School lunches

have been a nightmare. He doesn't want to try the hot lunch they

provide and doesn't want to eat food from a lunch box because it

is " old " and I can't always take a fresh hot lunch to school at noon

for him. Any ideas would sure be helpful.

We never had a lot of problems with any particular foods, although Kris is kinda

picky about the texture of some foods, but our real problem with food was

restaurants. They made him so nervous that for years I'd plan a " sick trip " to

the bathroom in the first 5 minutes of any trip to eat out. That one's gotten

better lately.

Don't be sorry around here. This isn't a " sore " subject - everyone is just

sharing " war stories " about food.

I have it on EXCELLENT authority that the ONLY acceptable packed

lunch is:

o peanut butter (creamy) and grape jelly on Wonder bread

o Pringles

o a banana

o a butterscotch zinger (maybe vanilla if we're feeling adventurous)

and

o a thermos of milk or a box of apple juise (but for god's sake, make

sure the juice box has the bendy straw and not the expandable

straw!!!)

must know -- he's almost 8, and has taken the same lunch every

day since daycare. (ok, to be honest, he has it 3 meals a day unless

I break down and get pizza or Mcs).

He calls is " the usual, " as in " I'll have the usual. "

During the last 2 weeks was on Straterra, he ASKED to try

different foods 3 times!! Unfortunately, the Straterra also had him

sleeping through school, as well as making his perseverations worse,

so we had to stop it. But it makes ya think -- there must be some

neurological basis even to the picky eating.

What is straterra used for.? My son is being evaluated and maybe starting a

med soon for his Obsessive behaviors. He isn't too picky of an eater.

Somewhat.

Your son sounds exactly like my 6 year old. Mine has added a new twist to

his eating. He will eat the peanut butter and jelly sandwich at school, but

not at home. I cannot figure this one out. He eats the same thing day after

day also. I also have a 12 year old who is extremely picky, but not quite as

bad as my younger one. Pam :)
