Guest guest
Hi, Just wondering where you are? I had sort of gathered from some of your posts that you were overseas from us in the U.S., but being new to the list was unsure. Where ever you may be...wishing you peace and safety. Jack had a nice compliment paid him tonight,he has been doing a music workshop which ended tonight and the man running it said he last worked with Jack 2 yrs ago and he has come on so well he said before he was happy but over the top all over the place but now he is still happy but knows when to stop playing about,of course Jack stood there beaming and I feel it really did him good to have an outsider pay him compliments. Sue Oh Sue, that's so sweet of you to say! I wish you had time to talk more often! I like hearing what's up over there. Roxanna ôô What doesn't kill us Makes us really mean. Guest guest
Sue, I'm still trying to figure who is where and keep up with what going on with who. Plus the obvious serious distractions going on. I'm fairly new to email and have just found out how to list emails from one person; so i've just come back to yr post about where you live.Fill me in on yr view on sevices over here and what services you.ve fought out of the establishment. I had the idea that education for kids like ours in the US was so much better. For most , I've woken up the the reality that it's fight, fight ,fight all the way to get anything like what our kids need; here and in US/Israel,etc. If you want to save time repeating yr situation send me yr earlier intro with a postscipt. LOL Jo. d. P.S.Does yr daughter have hearing probs? I was part of the NDCS(national deaf childrens society). If Re: ( ) Where in the world are you? Guest guest
Hi Jo, I fought for everything for Jack (I didn't know what was wrong just knew something wasn't right) until he got his dx at age 10 then as he was in his last year at juniors I left him where he was with an aide (fought for the hours though lol) he then went onto special school which to begin with was okay and I thought I could relax hahahahahaha I have still found myself explaining over and over again to them why Jack does whatever annoying thing he happens to be doing at the time, anyhow he has since Sept been in the autistic unit which is part of the school and to a degree is getting on better until of course I went to the annual review a couple of weeks back and they handed me a letter from the ed pchy who had suggested Jack could use some OT for his writing skills etc when I asked if they were getting this organised for him the answer NO I have to get my doc to refer me I couldn't believe it so now I have to bully the doc into getting me an urgent appt at the hospital for OT which I know for a fact has about 1 yr waiting list,so really I think our services are crap. On the other hand with Amber I put my foot down big time when she was 18mths old and refused to be fobbed off with she is just a late talker etc so she has been very fortunate and been in the system since then but this is probably because her speech disorder is so severe,no she doesn't have hearing probs now she did in the early years and I was foolishly hoping grommits would solve the speech issues (even though her teacher told me otherwise) but of course they didn't but they have solved her hearing probs so at least she can hear ther sounds clearly that she is learning.I will have school probs with her in 2 yrs as there are no senior speech and language units round here and she is too able for MLD school which is what Jack's is so although I am prepared to fight I'm not actually sure I have anything available to fight for. So getting back to our services over here I think they are pretty bad in general, they all seem to think our kids will outgrow the need for help once they are ready for senior school,I guess that means someone waves a magic wand and the difficulties disappear lol.
