Guest guest
Well, the article does point out that it is a bit unfair to say Atkins was obese and not due to diet, but a viral thing causing bloating the last few years of his life. And he did live to 72 years. Diets can be amazing and there have always been 'fad' diets. Diets can make mountains of money...doesn't matter if they work or not for many people. I think the objective of pecanbread is just trying to stick to something that has been set out. It isn't a spot for theorizing or changing that which has been set out. Other spots would be for that. Just as several of the GFCF, blood-type diet, vegetarian diets, low- carb/atkins groups, etc simply want a place to implement a particular diet as it is....not for discussing whether the diet should be or not be, or whether such-n-such is really the best way. Many times science is left completely out of it. As for the leaky gut, that can be a basis for some of the problems with digestion. But the 'fix' isn't to run around taking out this food and that until you are food-free and living off handfuls of synthetic pills and vitamins. If food eliminations are helpful, by all means, do whatever helps...but what is needed is something pro- active to fix the leaky gut as much as possible, which food eliminations don't appear to do. >>>>> actually food is a lot of work and its just as much in the freshness and quality of soil as anything else. Well, as an agriculture person, a lot is derived from the soil. And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the study of soils yielded clues to improved gut health. . Guest guest
its like mining for diamonds and the seams are on the boundary of the mine and the workers are scraping thin pickings within the mine it all looks very sane until you walk along the boundary. actually i am learning not to shout 'look here are the diamonds', mostly they can't see and throw a few stones!!!!!!!!!!!!! and it suits to have the workers hacking out the center cause that is what exposes the periphery
Guest guest
For those who suffer from insulin resistance and diabetes the Atkins and south beach diet types are brilliant and can make the difference between someone having to be on insulin shots or not. Guest guest
Insulin resistance runs in my family and my father and sister have both found that by following these type diets their blood levels have come down whereas before they were being chased by doctors to go on insulin because their levels were high. It is the refined carbs that make the blood sugar shoot up and then the body produce insulin to bring it level so surely the cutting out of the refined carbs and only eating unrefined is the key ? If not, what would you think is the key as these diets are certainly doing the job for them and refined carbs are not good dietary-wise for anyone nutritionally so surely cutting them out is good ?
