I can't comment on prescription antifungals because I've never tried them.

The non-script ones seem plenty strong -- I had to learn to go very slow with

them, 1 drop 2X day or else n gets a histamine reaction or sometimes a

fever. OLE is olive leaf extract, mine is a powder that comes in a capsule.

Okay, that does it, you've convinced me to get off the proverbial pot. It's time

to mix it up and use something besides the GSE. That's excellent news for you

and your family. I'm so excited for you. You're pretty on key with your child,

it'd take me a good week, maybe as I was taking the sweater in for dry cleaning

to realize he'd had no sensory reaction to it. 's book is fantastic, and

the group is great, but you're part of that group, and I thank you for telling

us about this.

happy update

Really I should hold off reporting about this but I'm just too excited about

it. The short history: at 15 mo he was given a battery of vaxes while he was

still recovering from an ear infection and on antibiotics. The infection

failed to clear up and he was put on 6 rounds of antibiotics with very little

break

(and I was ignorant about probiotics)[and so much else :( ]. So ever since he

has been grouchy, angry, full of sensory problems (mostly tactile),

aggressive, raging, uncooperative, his thinking sometimes quite muddled, next

to no

social skill development, anxious, unable to play by himself and needed an

adult

to entertain him. Feingold diet helped a bit. Houston's enzymes helped a LOT

-- for the first time we saw a sweet, curious kid! But since introducing

enzymes nearly 8 months ago, it's been very up and down with the good days

gradually

diminishing and the rage getting worse. The parenting advice in Ross Greene's

" Explosive Child " helped quite a bit, and yeast treatments, and SCD. But

finally I'm doing all of it at the same time and not stopping the yeast

treatment

but rotating GSE, O of O, uva ursi, Candex, OLE, Lauricidin -- and sometimes

overlapping them. Diet is strict SCD including the goat yogurt.

And OMG, the last 3 weeks have been *wonderful for n, better than

anything ever before...he is playing happily and kindly with his little

sister, he

is thinking up his own projects and doing them without help, he is cooperating

with everyday chores, he is -- dare I say it? -- actually HAPPY! He

problem-solves! He has virtually *no tactile defensivess (yesterday I had on a

" hairy

sweater " that normally he would demand I take off before he would come in the

same room with me -- instead, he's hugging me with no notice of it at all). He

is getting dressed in the morning with no prodding! (Was a major horrid

struggle). He is *smiling! I can leave him and his sister playing and go in

the next

room without risking her getting hurt! He apologizes! (Never ever done that

before.) Everyone else in the family can now breathe...

I'm not saying I'm sure this is permanent, but I'll take a good 3 weeks. I

owe so much to for writing Enzymes and Autism which got me started on

the

right path, and to the members of this group for being so smart and helpful.

Amazing to see that underneath the snarling tornado there is a boy who

actually

has a few manners. Wow.

Hi Nell et al,

This is a very timely post for me. If you don't mind my asking, did

you give your child the GSE, Oil of oregano, etc. instead of trad

anti-fungals? Our DAN doctor has prescribed lamisil and flagyl and

I'm wondering if I should try them first or forgo them altogether?

Also, could you clarify what OLE is?

Thanks,

This is fabulous news! Thanks for sharing. Nice job!!!

Question, I noticed this...

>I had to learn to go very slow with them, 1 drop 2X day or else

n gets a histamine reaction

I tried to give Grapefruit Seed Extract to my daughter (just 2 drops

in a glass of juice) and she developed a HUGE hive on her lip that

itched intensely. A great big wheel. She hasn't had one in a very

long time... is that what you mean? Is that from yeast? I thought it

meant she was allergic to the grapefruit.

Thanks!

Truly,

Nell,

What fantastic news! Congratulations. A happy, polite, interacting

child minus anger/rages - ;) What a great result. Good work!

Wonderful!

Barb

[ ] happy update

hi

weve been chelating low doses of ala and dmsa for kai probably

averaging once a fortnight, since xmas, ive seen some improvements

overall but not many.

BUT

i went to parents meeting on friday, and they didnt half make me

smile. Kai is doing very well, at Key stage 2, he has straight c's

in english, straight a's in maths and science, as and bs in history

and geography and she said that he will be going for sats in year 6,

bearing in mind kai is in a special school for children with

autism, they are absolutely delighted, also they then mentioned we

dont know quite whats going on with kai, but over the last 4 months

we have seen real surges of improvment!!! and that if he kept up

like this we were looking at an intergrated resource and possibly

gcse's at high school. I quietly smiled to myself - as they dont

know that i began chelating since just after xmas.

also his physiotherapist saw him 2 weeks ago, she hasnt seen him

since before xmas and she was stunned at the improvements hed made,

she said she couldnt understand why and how hed managed to improve

so much.

just thought id share,

emma
