Guest guest
Hi. We have been using the Houston Enzymes for about a month. They definitely helped my 3.4 yr old's elimination. This week both my 19 month old and 3.4 yr old got a reaction where they got red patches all over their bodies for about 2 hours. I think there was too much Vit B3 and this was the B3 flush. I took it out. However, today my 3.4 yr old got red patches on his legs again today and had the red ears and mottled cheeks. I had a bit more selenium that I normally give him, could that be it? I just got done reading Enzymes and Autism last night. What hope it gives me! Could my kids be absorbing their vitamins more and so need less? Or are these reactions something else? Also, about a month ago I took my kids off their supplements for a week to retest their gut and heavy metals. Things started to fall apart a bit and my 3.4 year old got more diarhea again. This is when I started the Houston enzymes and his poops got better. Later I found out that he had no Lacto in his stomach at the re-testing. Somehow I think it was the enzymes that got us through the 6 weeks of waiting for our Dr. to get back to us to report that he had no Lacto in his stomach so we could start supplementing with Lact again (started last week). Could this be the enzymes? Also, other weird stuff happened in the last month with 4 poop smearing incidents. Could this be a lack of Lactobaccillus? Things seem so much better now. Also, in this month my son stopped napping and started sleeping much less. I started Magnesium 5 days ago and things are soooooooo much better. Looking back at his original tests, he was deficient in Mag, but the Dr. never mentioned supplementing with it. With me, I am having some horrible stomach issues lately with cramping and throwing up. Never had these issues before. My allergies are worse and it could be from a " gentle chelation " from my Dr. that I am still suffering from. I did this for 8 weeks and stopped 4 weeks ago. I have elevated mercury excretion in my hair. Could the enzymes be exacerbating allergies of mine? I don't have celiac. I do have milk, egg, apple, string bean, green pepper, mustard green and casein IgG elevated readings. I threw up an egg today but last week it was quail. Any thoughts? Thanks, Maureen

Or they might be reducing their need for certain supplements, even if they need *some* supplementation. My son would regress without his selenium supplement, but now if I give it to him, it CAUSES regression. Sounds like your kids are healing! > could start supplementing with Lact again (started last week). Could > this be the enzymes? Describe your " gentle chelation " protocol. I might have some ideas for you. > I have elevated mercury excretion in my hair. Could the enzymes be > exacerbating allergies of mine? Yep. My allergies and other issues have changed as I have detoxed myself. It can be VERY frustrating. Dana
Guest guest
Maureen, You have so much going on at the moment, it really is hard to attribute it to any one thing. The enzymes appear to be helping at least some, but having to switch things around for the testing would cloud the results. I suggest just keeping at it and evaluate how things are going over a few weeks times once you get his diet/supplement schedule regular in some way. Enzymes can make supplements/medication more available simply because enzymes can improve absorption and gut healing. Thus anything can be better absorbed. And you may not need many of those extras anymore...or go down to a typical vitamin amount, and not the atrociously high amounts (if you are giving any). If you haven't reintroduced any supplements, you might want to hold off on them for a couple weeks and see how the enzymes do on their own. Then add in just the supplements, one at a time, and see how your child reacts. Magnesium is great stuff. Covers a lot of bases and is cheap. Given our basic diets then to be mag deficient, and mag isn't stored in the body, a lot of people might benefit for some extra magnesium. Restrictive diets like GFCF tend to eliminate the few natural food sources one does typically get. I am glad you like the Enzymes for Autism book. It is written to be very factual...and the facts are pretty hopeful! Keep in touch and keep posting as you work with this. .
Guest guest
We too " observed " that the Super Nu Thera was no longer needed for my son, once enzymes were a part of his daily routine. In fact, we saw a good deal of what you're seeing, minus the feces smearing. What happened for us, a later blood test confirmed, that two things were responsible, one, the nutrients ph was receiving, be it from a wider selection of foods and the proper breakdown ( enzyme reaction) of the food was nourishing ph, no more malabsorption issues. In addition, a small degree of gut healing must have occurred for the villi to be absorbing these nutrients and distributing them. However, for the first time, I realized we had a " yeast " problem, and the skin, nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramping, and especially the congestion were all symptoms for us. The GSE (combined with No Fenol) made it more intense, but after 4 days, we were excellent. It's been a roller coaster with the yeast for us, and we go about 3 weeks in between GSE treatments. But, we had an excellent fall this year. Neither of us needed Zyrtec. Good luck to you, and I believe I've read posts before that said feces smearing is yeast or bacterial related.
