Guest guest
Was this an actual bloody nose or just a bit of dried blood inside his nose? Sometimes kids get dehydrated on rounds and their airways can dry out. Dry airways can cause nose bleeds, as can picking or bumping their nose. We have not had nosebleed problems here with chelation. Anyone else? Selenium is dosed as: 1-2mcg per pound it should be selenomethionine for the form. I don't think selenium deficiency would cause nose bleeds. I would not increase K. I give 1 mg to my 140 pound 12 year old. My 45 pound child takes 1/4 tablet. Vit K is not a water soluble vitamin so it does store in the body. > > Hi, > > Finished round 1 yesterday for my 40lb son. ~5mg DMSA every 3hrs. > > Today I noticed there was a bit of blood inside his nose. He has been on trace mineral supplement (Kirkman), but I guess he needs more selenium. Other minerals were OK. > He is already on Vit K2 (1mg Thorne) > > Can low selenium cause nosebleeds? > What brand of selenium should I supplement and how much for a 40lb kid? > Should I increase Vit K? > > Thanks for inputs > Shanthi > > > ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ > Be a better friend, newshound, and > know-it-all with Mobile. At my house, nosebleeds were caused by giving fish oil without vitamin K, and giving zinc to my #1 without also giving copper [low copper causes nosebleeds]. Maybe it is time to reduce any zinc you give? Dana
Guest guest
One of my friends says that C and bioflavonoids help a lot w/ the mucous membranes. She rec'd it when I told her about my son getting frequent nosebleeds.
