It helped him to become potty trained and calmed his hyperactivity. He made some nice gains in language for about 3-4 months afterwards. He then got sick last December and some of the auditory gains were lost. I had heard sometimes the gains did not stick and the AIT needed to be repeated. There were too many things going on this past summer and we did not do AIT again as planned. My daughter has just this past weekend attended a seminar in Dallas to train as a provider of The Listening Program which is based on Tomatis. It is very inexpensive compared to Berard AIT and can be repeated over and over since you will actually purchase the CDs used. If you would like to know more about this therapy go to www.advancedbrain.com. We also bought a CD called Mind Stim for $30. It is not music and my grandson refuses to listen to it. Mind Stim may work though since he hasn't listened enough to know one way or the other. The Listening Program works more like Berard AIT. We will be starting The Listening Program next week. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with either the Berard or Tomatis methods of auditory integration therapy? They are offering a Berard (10 day session) near my house but my nutritionist thinks that Tomatis is better; that Berard was more for noise sensitivity which my son does not have. Due to costs, having to travel etc it just wasn't possible. Earlier this week I stumbled upon this site: http://www.mind-stim.com/ It is for a Tomatis CD that you're supposed to be able to play at home and it's really supposed to work. I'm skeptical because it just sounds too easy!! But then who would have thought that digestive enzymes and supplements could make such a big difference in a " severe and uncurable condition " like autism? It only cost $30. so I figured what the heck and ordered it (haven't recd it yet). Considering how much money we've already spent $30 doesn't seem like that much to " throw away " if it doesn't work and it isn't something that should hurt him. Laurie > Hey there.
