Exactly. I do have high blood pressure, and so when I saw the low sodium,

I was excited about it. I don't plan on taking any real supplements for

sodium. Just noted that it was low.

Thanks for the info though. I didn't know that the minimum was set for the

tolerance amount.

The RDA for sodium is not set for maximum health but the minimum that

it

was felt the average American eater could stand to consume. 500 mg is all

you need for good health (what Walford recommends), any more gets you in

trouble with calcium, blood pressure, etc.

I'm not so sure about the 500mg being required. I've seen levels of 100 mg and 250 mg by other authors, including a noted HTN specialist. But in fact it would be very difficult to not get 500mg since all food has some residual sodium, and that level many times is not listed on food labels, just the added sodium.
