Guest guest
Hi andrew, I know you have a lot of knowledge about both enzymes and scd. You said the other day that both bananas and honey have complex carbs- and in theory should then be avoided if one followed scd logic? Do you eat bananas and honey? How strict are you in following scd logic? What is your diet like? We all know how you feel about organs-LOL- but in terms of fruits, grains, sweeteners, etc. Thanks! Guest guest
scd is a diet for diarreha and considerably reduces the total bacterial/yeast mass in the gut opening up metabolic gain from the body not having to process the waste metabolites from the higher population of bacteria/yeast in a non scd diet. therefore is a question of degree. as bananas ripen they convert complex to single sugars so by the time they are very ripe the complex sugars are down to one percent. however i am restricted in the amount of banana i can eat because it contributes to phenol debt. honey seems to vary considerably in the amount of complex sugars depending on processing, age, storage temp and other variables. i don't eat honey at all but those not processed with temps above 103F seem better than others but the total sugar mass of even single sugars in honey is too high and yeast promoting. grains seem best removed but wheat may be the best tolerated. a lot of the problem is with the soy flour in commerical wheat flour products like store bought bread i feel. however i am not eating any grains at the moment. forget sweeteners. you have to be careful not to overdo fruits on scd becuse its so much less prepartion time just to use fruits and not cook veges. in tasmania here there is a first class no additives thick cream(king island cream ) which i use a LOT of ( several heaped dessert spoons per serving) so its sorta fruit embedded in cream ;o) but it seems to give extrodinary extended suagr metabolism as well as being anti yeast with minimal ketogenicity. the other very successful thing is whey powder mixed to a paste and taking a very heaped teaspoon after breakfast and lunch being careful to mix very thoroughly with syliva in the mouth to expose the lactose in the whey to the amylase in the siliva......... about $1.30 us for 500 grams here so its very low cost.......... full of cysteine and amino acids so builds muscle mass(really shapes up womens bodies if thats of any interest...knocks of the fat and replaces it with lean muscle)...but i think it really helps detox mercury et al....... pecanbread AND EVEN ELAINE GOTTSCHALL SEEM LOCKED INTO CARBOHYDRATE THINKING WITHOUT COMPLEX CARBS.. that is instead of throwing away all the baking cook books they seem bent on recreating potatoes and grains with nut flour 'goodies' when they should just toss the cook book and let the new approach work its own way........deep frying is out. nut flours are out. pure thick cream and whey are in. not eating a meal or two when phenol debt gets too high is in. > Hi andrew, > I know you have a lot of knowledge about both enzymes and scd. > You said the other day that both bananas and honey have > complex carbs- and in theory should then be avoided if one > followed scd logic? Guest guest
Hi, I thought I would add my five cents worth to all of the below as I have also been doing most of it,(definatly not enough SCD emphasis at first ) It seemed SO hard to throw away all those delicious,English fat & sugar saturated recipe books of old my mother passed down, lol) The benefits have been enormous. I'm FREE from the kitchen, lol it's so quick and easy to prepare. My cognitive thinking, ability to cope with interaction with others, and So many things have changed. Less emotional swings... The list could go on and on. SO, I cannot give enough praise to the good effect it has had on my health. I'm sure all of you like me have suffered from just total exhation at times when it has all got TOO much. I never realized how much they were contributing to the dragged down feeling I was always battleing. (Want to add here that it was also a LOT of mercury toxicity,Lack of iron in my diet,(could't come at liver lol)and need for SCD emphasis + Enzymes. Possible lead poisoning from RAF bases during chilhood(They had a policy if it doesn't move paint it gloss white or kahaki, lol) I have always been TOO thin and am experiancing some gained muscle tone and flesh which is great for my vanity ) The organic unhomoginized milk,King Island cream and the whey I'm sure. Enzymes not withstanding. (have got s book and get Devons enzymes,Wouldn't be without them) I don't have the problems I used to have with milk and bread (bloated, dull feelings)Thanks to enzymes,SCD emphasis is probably slightly differant to s as I have not had migraines since late teens(only a few,but doozys)I have got Elaines book but confess to not having read it all yet. I was a bit tempted at first to replace sugar and honey with a lot more fruit but have always been aware of the same type of reaction to fruit in me that bread & milk gave me. (It was incredible the withdrawl symtoms we experianced,Amber and Kim tantrums, moodyness and Then terrible tiredness. Me a craving for sweetened tea to replace chocolate lol. I have NOT yet come to grips the yeast issue for Amber and cantell by her MAJOR reaction to Candex,Origanoil and No fenol that we have a LOT of work to do. (It amazes and depresses me how others don't respect our efforts sometimes,Well meaning mums of little friends who think I'm cruel or fanatical,X partner etc) I have even deciced to Quarentine her just to stop the minor sabotages that really keep putting back our efforts ( I have found that by eating more Offal,Red meat,Duck eggs,Cream,The right vegies and suppliments of course sometimes leads to eating less. So much protien to metabolize etc, But I an not losing weight (good for skinny me ) and energy is FANTASTIC!
