Guest guest
Instead of Risperdal (risperidone), consider Seroquel (quetiapine)...much better side effect profile, but one agent dosen't meet needs of all. JR

Guest guest
Hi, I am just wondering if she is having a bad reaction to the zoloft. You said she was on zoloft I think? My son had a very bad reaction to an ssri (I know some kids do well). He did great the 1st three weeks on it and then became pyschotic and was manic and trying to hurt himself. He was put on risperidal until we could get him off the ssri (you can't stop these suddenly!). I don't know that that is what's happening here but you might want to ask your doctor. I know with my son is was a very scary time. Hope all goes well. Laurie > > I used it as a last resort (for agression). Guest guest
what form of zinc? 10 mg might be to much. risperdal is heavily fluorinated and not the way to go. really supplements and meds are different roads and its better not to mix them. vinoceptine also may be trouble. > I just spoke to Machaela doctor, we have put her on zoloft to help > with the obsessive behaviors, side effect was the excessive urination, > we put her on zinc not this am she is out of control, had to be > harnessed on the bus etc...he said the next step would be to try > risperidone I dont really know what to do or if we should just wait > out the zoloft..with the zinc...has risperidone helped with children > with autism? we have her on houston enzymes with each meal, > vinoceptine, moly , the zinc ( i gave 10mg last night and 10 this am) > 25mg of zoloft..and right now that is it...what can we do??? > ok I forgot she also gets the oil of oregano capsules, culturelle at > night.... > Please any thoughts.. >

I know I dont want to start the risperdal..Why do you say vinoceptine may be the problem?? Guest guest
is it a particular form of chelated zinc? or just chelated zinc? i have seen posts on vinoceptine , you might have to search back on a- m but there have been problems. zinc methione(optizinc) is hard to find without a small amount of copper in as well. ino the copper is ok, but some-one else posted it was a problem. > > > I just spoke to Machaela doctor, we have put her on zoloft to > help > > > with the obsessive behaviors, side effect was the excessive > > urination, > > > we put her on zinc not this am she is out of control, had to be > > > harnessed on the bus etc...he said the next step would be to try > > > risperidone I dont really know what to do or if we should just > wait > > > out the zoloft..with the zinc...has risperidone helped with > children > > > with autism? we have her on houston enzymes with each meal, > > > vinoceptine, moly , the zinc ( i gave 10mg last night and 10 this > > am) > > > 25mg of zoloft..and right now that is it...what can we do??? > > > ok I forgot she also gets the oil of oregano capsules, culturelle > > at > > > night.... > > > Please any thoughts.. > > >
Guest guest
We have used risperdone and it did help my now 11yr ds, but caused so much weight gain we switched. we even ate well and stayed active and exercised too. 8-) Sara ( ) Risperidone My son saw a new psychiatrist today. He stated that ADHD and Asperger's does not run together, that we need to focus on Asperger's and family history. Since there is bipolar on his father's side, and my son shows anger issues at school and at his dads, PLUS OCD, he put him on .5 Risperidone. He stated it would help with the OCD and the autism. Has anyone had any luck or thoughts about this medication? The doc seemed to know what he was talking about and was extremely pissed that they have been treating my son for ADHD for 5 yrs with meds that have not been working. Guest guest
We took my then 7 year old daughter off Risperidone, but replaced it with Abilify at the time. We didn't see any withdrawal issues, but probably because one was replaced with another. BOTH caused her to gain a lot of weight. The Abilify packed on 15 lbs in just 8 months. We then replaced Abilify with Geodon, and honestly, there wasn't much of an improvement, if any at all. When we took Geodon away, we absolutely saw signs of withdrawal - facial ticks, and also what I would characterize as mania - saying things that really didn't make any sense. We then slowed the removal, and at the end were skipping to a pill every two days, then every 3 days, until we finally ceased the medication. Definitely consult your doc before you take away a medication in this family. It's really hard to see your child go through drug withdrawal, and its very difficult on their little bodies.
