Liz,

Thanks for the great article...very interesting!

Since I put my kids on an anit-candida diet last week, I went on it

as well and cut out my coffee and sugar. I had the worst withdrawal

effects, but after 2 days was a much calmer person. ALso, we had a

tough night last night with one child up with the flu, so I gave in

this morning and had my coffee with no sugar. I can really feel the

effects - shaky, heart palpitations, BUT also much more envigorated

and energetic. I can feel how much my body craves that stimulant

effect!

I have a friend whose son has ADHD, and he obsessively smells

everything (non-food items). Wonder if he is seeking this stimulant

effect?

I didn't know that about astragulus. I think i have some in the

pantry - it is supposed to be a good immune booster as well. I'll

try it out one of these mornings.

Miti, I am not sure it would be the same as coffee but did you

ever try astragalus for energy? It works very nicely but doesn't

have a chemical crash effect. Some how it stimulates our cells

energy. I used to take it when I worked, it lasts about 6 hours

and it takes about 20 minutes to get working.

I am sure coffee would kick in sooner but this herb works well

when you need a lift.

What I read in that article blew me away. Now I know what is

happening to my head! :)

My #3 is my sensory kid. He will smell things when he is eating a

food and/or supplement he does not tolerate.

I remember smelling things as a child, because I could not see and

smell helped me identify people and objects.

Good luck.
