I had a sister-in- law whose gallbladder operation was botched big time - the laser pierced her liver and severed her small intestine. A top-notch surgeon saved her life, and she had a shunt for two years while her liver repaired itself. He told her to call if her palms start to itch - I think it has something to do with a build-up of bile or other acid in the blood. Just wanted to share this with the group in case it ever comes up again. I hate to give anybody something else to worry about, but would feel worse if I didn't speak up and it did turn out to be a problem. I know how nuts it sounds, and probably would not believe it myself if I had not been there! I wish I could remember what exactly happened - my fuzzy memory thinks it might have been one of the times her shunt got blocked by scar tissue. Started about six weeks ago (same time as my hives on my face). Hi Jo, Just a thought.... but could your friend suffer from Candida albicans? Please ask her to do the spit test. I used to get similar itching - it was driving me potty.... and in my case it was definitely due to the Candida. - Yes, antihistamine will help, as will cortisone cream ... but the itch might come back with a vengeance when you stop. I would try to get to the root of the problem. What helped me temporarily to stop the itch (- what really helped was a change of diet, stopping all things sweet) was 'Mycota cream' for athletes foot (over the counter). Might be worth a try. It drives her potty unless she uses antihistamine! I will pass on all your thoughts and see what transpires. Guest guest Posted January 28, 2009 Report Share Posted January 28, 2009 Hi there - I had exactly the same I would wake up every morning tearing the web around my fingers to pieces - this is nothing to do with an external issue but is internal - it comes from the pituitary gland - is your friend on enough thyroid meds - also together with this, zinc and cortisol will be running low and copper may be too high and out of balance due to low thyroid condition.
