Guest guest
Kari, Hot dogs really make son reactive as well. He, too, is very hard to get protein into. Over the holiday break, we wound up eating out a lot and he first kept getting hot dogs. As much as I think cow dairy is poison, I have recently begun giving him quite a bit due to protein issues. I make my own mac and cheese which he loves. Also, I have introduced him to grilled cheese which he also loves so the hot dogs became less of a problem. I traded one nasty source of protein for a slightly less nasty source but it is a better choice for us because of behavior reactions to hot dog ingredients. Once or twice a week, I get a few pieces of broiled cod into him. I don't know about coconut oil but since the meltdown started soon afterward it may have been part of the problem. Also, you probably already know from my past posts, that we went through six weeks of a really terrible hellish time. We now have a child who is blooming even more than before enzymes (we were GFCF and I never thought we'd be off it). I still don't have a handle on what is causing his outbursts--yeast, parasite, bacteria. My take on it is he has all three. We will kill them off as best we can with supplements but his diet has a lot of carbs so they will not go away totally. I am focusing on healing the gut--yeast killers, gut builders. It seems to be working for us. HTH,Robin
