Many AS kids are depressed as they become older. I don't have time to reply now in detail. I do want to say that in my opinion part of the depression would be your child knowing he has been different, unable to fit in, etc. AS is so hard on the kids. There is a book I have yet to read but hear it is truly wonderful called Freaks, Geeks and Asperger's Syndrome. It was written by a 13 year old boy with AS. I also understand that the more the child learns about the diagnosis, the more it helps them. The worst thing to do (I have heard) is to tell the child there is nothing unusual about them. Then they feel really bad about themselves. However, if they know they think differently about things and you can emphasize that different is not bad, they do better. There are some great books on AS. Robin

Guest guest
Hi! Don't know if this will help at all or not but we started our son on a Mannatech product called PLUS. It is supposed to help keep the hormone system healthly. What I found with him is that when he started to take it he became much happier. > Hello everyone, > > I have a question regarding my 9 year-old son who was diagnosed with > AS this past September. He might benefit from No-Fenol enzyme Also, definitely consider that his school situation requires changing. Dana
