Guest guest
I also believe I had un dxed gestational diabetes -- my ASD son was 9lb 5 oz at birth. My third(NT) child was 9 15, but my doc put me on a diet at 7.5 months. I also had to take antibiotics for bronchitis while pregnant with my son. Guest guest
When they checked my sugar at 20 wks, I was one point over the cutoff from my first preg, but they had moved up the cutoff. At 32 wks I was way over the limit and immediately began insulin. With my third preg I was on 140 u/day by 12 wks in. I'm now type 2. I have wondered if high blood sugars might have negatively impacted her. She was my largest at 7lb 13, my first was 7lb 2, and my last was 7lb 3. Another woman whose son had therapy with Allie also had gestational. I encouraged the diabetes center at my hospital to do a 5 yr post partum study, but they have not, to my knowledge. My OB said that a gestational mother runs about a 6% rate of birth defects, compared to 3-4% of healthy pregs, but to my knowledge autism isn't counted as a birth defect, so it could be higher. There are also several women on the gfcfrecipes board who said they were gestational.
