Guest guest
--- Hi Jenn, I'm pretty new at this as well but i want to give you my 2 cents anyway:) I started my son on efa's first.I noticed his eye contact improving in a couple of weeks. It is now pretty normal at home. He's been on for 3.5 months now.And 2 months ago I started GFCF diet and he started responding to his name.Everyone thought he was deaf before even after finding out he had normal hearing. He waves bye bye and gives kisses now.Still non verbal expect for spitting out 2-3 once.I really noticed a change about 1 week after the diet.He has a long way to go because of stims and SID but I am hopeful. We will be getting a DAN doc soon. The supps I gave him made him hyper(SNT,DMg etc) so he's off for now.Hope this helps a little. Guest guest
I would try the enzymes first. With a three year old, the AFP Peptizyde would be my first choice. The AFP is tasteless/odorless and mixes well with food and juice. My daughter had trouble with SNT once we introduced enzymes. The enzymes break down foods and often the supplements can be scaled back. Houston enzymes are here: http://www.houstonni.com/ Often the enzymes have a three weeks adjustment period, so you may want to keep a journal and start any trial supps one at a time after that. I felt better once I started trying things slowly and more methodically. Have you seen ¹s website? http://www.enzymestuff.com/ >
Guest guest
The first thing I would say is that I think it's great you're going all-out to recover your son. Good for you, and good for him. The second thing I would say is ... hold off on ordering more than one supplement at a time. I can't tell you how many unopened bottles of this that and the other are lined up on the special shelf for unused supplements, lol. You should only start one supplement at a time so you can really monitor what his reaction is and whether it's helping. By the time he's adjusted to the first supplement, believe me, you'll have changed your mind 50 times over about which one you want to try next. You may pay more in shipping, but I really think in the end you'll save, lol. I think the best thing we've done, and what has produced the most results, is to start by concentrating on gut healing and overall health and well-being. Does your son have any obvious gut problems? How have his BMs been these three years? Enzymes are an excellent first choice if you have gut concerns and/or food concerns. I agree that AFP Pep might be a great first supplement. It's great for overall gut healing and also can replace the gfcf diet for many kids. Perhaps then Zyme Prime or another carb enzyme, maybe then No-Fenol, then you could move on to probiotics... I see GSE is on your list -- have you identified yeast issues? You could make a case for beginning yeast treatment even before the enzymes. Epsom salts baths are a great and cheap way to alleviate discomfort from beginning supplementation and provide a nice dose of magnesium and sulpher... Have you considered BrainChild vitamins and minerals? They are a great well rounded product especially if Greyson's diet is lacking... As you can see there are a lot of ways to go, but it looks to me like you're starting with a smaller picture with those supplements than a bigger picture. Not at all that that's wrong, just wanted to point it out to you in case you were unaware... Have you identified particular issues that made you choose those supplements? Good luck and let us know what you decide. > Hello to everyone. I am relatively new and having been reading > everything like a crazy woman. My son, Greyson, was 3 in Nov. Many kids need fewer supplements, at lower doses, with enzymes. > ~SNT Liquid Tropical Fruit-Trial If you suspect your child might have phenol issues, then I would suggest trying hypoallergenic NuThera instead. > ~Calcium Powder with Vitamin D (flavored) Trial Size- I would avoid flavors, especially if you suspect a phenol or yeast problem for your child. > ~Grapefruit Seed Extract Trial This is for yeast. Don't give it unless your child has yeast [or you suspect yeast]. It can cause bad bacteria problem otherwise. Dana
