Guest guest
Has anyone tried Wellzymes brand enzymes, or can comment on them? We did try both Kirkman and Houston enzymes so far. For us the Kirkman didn't seem to do very much. The Houston's made my son way too constipated, even though I've tried to incorporate them many different ways. Pam in MN Pam, I never used Wellzymes so I cannot comment on them. I think the big thing is to make sure they have DPP-IV in them for the gluten and casein. If they don't, have you tried using Houston enzymes but also supplementing with Magnesium. Magnesium will help the transit time through the colon. If your child can't swallow pills ( rec. Mag. Malate), you can buy Natural Calm. Also, are you giving probiotics? Robin
Guest guest
Hi Robin - Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, we've tried magnesium citrate, Vitamin C, and probiotics, in varying degress from a little to ALOT, to no avail. The enzymes are extremely binding for my son, so the constipation always becomes bad to the point of impaction. I don't know what else to do about it or try. At first I had success with Lauricidin, and also with Biotin, but then the constipation just comes right back. So, I'm toying with the idea of trying another enzyme, to see if I can find one that he tolerates, even if it isn't as complete as the Houston. Thanks again. Guest guest
Pam, I just realized who Wellzymes is. I was taking the professional formula for a while. Those are Ellen Cutler's companies brand. She talks about them in the Food Allergy Cure book she wrote. For me, I don't notice a difference between enzymes personally. For my son, I did not like her chewables for the kids. He could not take capsules at the time. I was giving them for general digestion. I knew her formula would not address the G and C responses. She feels her BIOSET techniques will address that. Good luck. It is so difficult sometimes to find the right puzzle piece for each child.
