B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is excreted in the urine, causing it

to turn orange. Some kids excrete more than just the

excess tho, which is why many kids need higher doses. And if you give too-high

doses, the body won't be able to process the

excess fast enough, leading to toxicity issues. So it is a balance of just how

much is needed for absorption without toxic build up.

how much r u giving?

B6. After that I thought I would try increasing it again and guess

what? He had the best 10 days at school ever! The teacher couldn't

believe it, especially as it's the end of the year when all the kids

are scratchy. As well I am doing firm pressure massage strictly twice

a day and lithium strictly three times daily and I know they helped,

but also know the B6 did as well. Either it was something else making

him hyper before or he can tolerate more now...

p5p is very sensitive to stomach acid so the actual amount absorbed

can vary depending on when you take it, when were you giving it? it

does sound like you have it rightish.

have you ever tryed the blackmores balanced b?

be interesting if it was the p5p form that was being effective.

magensium needs to be kept up with high b6 levels.

I give it right after breakfast but in a gel cap so it dissolves straight away.

Other things I give in cellulose cap to delay absorption.

Haven't tried the Blackmore's B. I really would like to find something that I

can give that has everything at once (think it's a pipedream!) instead of so

many tablets. He takes oxichel as a multi remember?

actually i just took 3 mg of b6 last night for the first time for

quite a while and it seemed to be positive

b6 can work with whey i think to improve muscle tone.

maybe other b vits like the blackmores balanced b as well(1/8th of a

tab or less) but i find that it tends to be to much of an 'upper' to

take regularly. i wonder if the cyanocobalamin in it is having this

effect. should email them suggesting methylcobalmain i suppose.

Prue, I didn't find anything that specific but will look. A small or

typical amount of B6 is needed in a normal amount (as andrew said it

helped him)...but the really high amounts start to throw things out

of whack if you are sensitive to it. The exception seems to be if you

have pyroluria which is a metabolism problem processing B6 and zinc

so you need much higher amounts of those just so your body registers

a normal amount (right?).
