My sources say pears and apples are in the same food family, but apples are high salicylate and pears are low. You can believe otherwise if you want. I tend to believe actual reactions over " scientific studies " , so that is where my bias comes from. But I have independent sources which support my position. >>>>>> The apple vs. pear issue has been an interesting one for us. Before I learned about how food were related, we had the poke allergy testing done for Devon. It was strange because when I went in, I told the nurse he would be allergic to apples. At first, she said that sight did not 'come up allergic to' to apples. Then later she said it did. As a substitute, I started using pears. After a while I realized he was reacting the same way to pears, but the diarrhea wasn't as severe. He doesn't either now. Dana, do you have a page on your site about salicylates?
