But almost all ham and bacon have nitrites which many children react badly to, and both are cured with sugar in one form or another. I've been searching for no-nitrite no-sugar ham but so far nothing.... Nell
Guest guest
> Dana and everyone else, I was reading a site that Dana gave me about luteins, and it mentioned in one sentence that " During a candida cleanse avoid pork. " (direct quote). I ask because we're trying to clear out my son's gut... and recently he has developed a taste for pork chops, bacon, and ham. Bacon and ham generally contain nitrates, plus both are " cured " which usually means sugar. Pork chops can be plain, but then again can contain other things also. >> I was quite excited that he was eating more meat, now I'm wondering if it could be a problem? You can keep the pork chops if you want. Drop the others tho. Dana
Guest guest
My thinking is the same as the rest: avoid the nitrates and added sugar, but 'plain' pork should be fine. Besides chops, you can make a lovely pork roast, and ham (real ham that hasn't been cured). The ones saying 'Ham and water product' usually have stuff in them. There are plain real hams though. Farmland has a line that is plain-er or you can check with local brands (like from a local producer). .
