Guest guest
> My son is on the gfcf and Feingold diet. He's been improving, and his eating selections have really expanded. We are doing Peptizyde and No-Fenol as well. I realized a while back that carrots gave him diarrhea... like badly within 2 hours of eating them. There didn't seem to be any other side effect from them, just the diarrhea. Anyways, my son had always enjoyed squash as a baby... and I'm thinking about try it on him again. I suppose I should just buy one and try it, but I wanted to see what opinions people had before I try it. When I gave my son carrots, he had NASTY diarrhea that burned his bottom. This happened with other orange foods also. Turns out, he had lutein intolerance, and I had to remove all orange, red, and green foods for quite a while. The red and green foods caused other sorts of problems, not the burning diarrhea. Enzymes did not help this, but chelation did. So you can try squash if you want, but if it is orange, be prepared for possible nasty diarrhea. And if you get that, then I would suggest you consider dropping all orange, red, and green foods for a week, see if that helps. Dana
Guest guest
> Is diarrhea the only indicator of a lutein problem? My son did not have diarrhea with lutein once he was eating it every day, it just made him hyper and stimmy. Enzymes did not help with this problem, but chelation did get rid of it after about 70 rounds. Good luck. Dana
Guest guest
> Hmm... do any enzymes help with lutein? Not for my son. >> Would you recommend a site on lutein, or can you tell me what it is all in? Here is the site with a good description, altho it says lutein intolerance is an " inborn error of metabolism " , when for my son it was deep metal toxicity. http://www.saras-autism-diet.freeservers.com/Diet/Saras_Diet_I.html Dana

I have the lutein link on my phenol page, because from my experience it is more of a phenol-type issue. But it is interesting anyway. Guest guest
> Hmmm..interesting. My son is still more hyper and stimmy than I think he should be (if *should be* for stimming and hyperness is acceptable). Do you have info on your site about lutein? Only the site I gave you. Excellent!!! Good news is always welcome. >>> realized a while back that carrots gave him diarrhea... like badly within 2 hours of eating them. Carrots are a hard to digest food anyway particularly if they are raw. Were these cooked? No-Fenol should help with this, but carrots are still a hard to digest (lots of fiber!) As for ketchup, there are lots of things in ketchup that can trigger reactions: sugar, high fructose corn syrup, nitrates, amines, might be colorings or flavorings. How is he with straight tomatoes? Squash is usually tolerated. My MIL can't eat potatoes and so she has mashed squash instead (prepared just like mashed potatoes). .
