Guest guest
Hi Sorry you are having such a tough time right now. GSe every few days would not have done the trick here either, in fact they may have made things worse. YOu need to do it 2 or three times a day or the yeast fights back even stronger. If you think she tolerates it and you feel like having another go then try one drop spaced out 3 times per day, along with some No Fenol and for a couple of days in a row. Epsom salts baths may help here also. Just had a thought about not using GSE while on SSRI's, bin that plan unless she off the SSRI's when you have seen the Dr. Olive Leaf extract is good stuff but yucky........ but then so is GSE. Guest guest
>>>> I have a call into her doctor but he is on vacation until monday....Should we try a different ssi medication? Good calling the doctor. In the meantime you might want to try no prozac for a bit. The SSRIs can be wonderful or dreadful (like other meds, supplements, diets, therapies, etc). That is a very low dose and prozac takes longer to build up, but some people have too much serotonin while others with autism has too little. I know that when I get too much serotonin (experienced with high doses of SSRIs or 5-HTP) that I feel totally miserable...much worse than taking none at all. With too high serotonin, sleep is disturbed and I feel really irritable and more aggressive. With too low serotonin, sleep can be off but I also feel tired, lack of energy, generally 'down' and hard to focus. I use Zoloft and it has fewer side-effects than Paxil or Proxac so that would be one to try. Prozac didn't do anything for me. Also, there are some even newer ones that are supposed to be even better, but I don't have personal experience with them (Luvox, Celexa, etc I think is the line). Did you do anything over Christmas that may have been extra sensory input? That can take a few days to wear off as well. Particularly if everyone else was doing non-routine things. But it does seem like M is extra-rigid though. Although the enzymes are great for us, watching the sensory input and continuing with a little meds is also necessary. My older son noticeably lost some compulsiveness when he started Zoloft. My husband said that Prozac really helped to turn-off the 'racing repetitive thoughts' for him. So an SSRI may be helpful if you find the right one. With all the newer choices out, I really don't know why Paxil or Prozac is often prescribed first. >>>Also she get mg oxide 150mg 3x per day,vit c, omegas, zinc, selenium, vinoceptine, pro bio gold at night.. Magnesium oxide can cause diarrhea (loose stools) more readily than other forms because it is not as absorbable. You might want to switch mag types and see if the enzymes can be increased. I use Magnesium Malate from Source Naturals at the moment and my son said he thinks this is the best for helping him stay regular (he is 10 now so can tell me these things). I did use mag sulfate and mag citrate before too and those work well. Getting a better form of mag that is more absorbable might help with the compulsive-ness. Mag helps with calming and muscle tension. Also has a good history in the treatment of neurological problems of all types. This might help with the compulsiveness too. Do you give epsom salt baths? That might help and is cheap and easy. www.enzymestuff.com/epsomsalts.htm >>>Machaela is 8 years old, diagnosed with autism and she is also deaf..she is nonverbal and has very poor communication skills.. This may compliment things. Not being able to communicate easily can just add to one's frustration. Do you have a way for her to indicate feeling tired? overwhelmed? headache? and other such things? I taught my older son how to communicate these things when he was very little because he would have terrible fits and get overwhelmed easily. It really helped me to figure out what he might be feeling rather than guess on external behavior. For example, since he was interested in gadgets and fascinated with how machines were powered (electric, battery, gas, manual, etc), I used this because he already had the concept and understanding of machines needing power of some sort to work. I taught him to say, " I am out of power " to indicate " tired " or having enough energy. Variations included " I don't have enough power to do that " " I didn't get enough power from sleeping " (indicates he didn't sleep well) " That store takes too much power to go there " (indicates it has lots of sensory inputs - noise, colors, temp) I communicate to him using this concept too: " If you fuss, you take all my power out and I don't have any left to play legos with you. " " You need to eat your vegetables so you get enough power. Otherwise your body won't work right and you won't be able to finish your drawing. " To help with transitions and unexpected errands, he learned to say, " I wasn't planning on going there. I don't have enough power yet. " Then I would ask, " Okay, name a time when you will be ready within the next hour and have enough power. " He would usually give himself about 15 to 20 minutes and then be ready to go. This saved us an immense amount of trouble simply because he had some control or say in the schedule. And he got time to think about transitioning. Sorry, I got to rambling a little. Hope this gives you some ideas to work with. The epsom salts would be easy to do right away. And then adjusting mag forms and mag forms. . Guest guest
Hi Dana, should I stop the Zyme prime?? just give the afp pep and no fenol?? also I have used the GSE and it dosent seem to do much with the yeast, do you have any other suggestions?? Im taking her off all the other supplements except the enzymes, the reason I have her on them is I was chelating and I dont want to do it w/o the important ones I listed..do you think I should hold back on the chelation or continue..I have not chelated for 3 weeks as I wanted to stop b4 I used the ssri med..any thoughts... > > Should we try a different ssi medication? > > > If she is worse now than before the SSRI, then yes, definitely consider a different medication. > > > > Right now she is on zyme prime, pep and no fenol, I reduced them to > > 1/2 cap at each meal as had such bad diarrhea and this was the only > > thing that seemed to control it.. > > > Try giving AFP Peptizyde and No-Fenol. > > > Also she get mg oxide 150mg 3x per > > day,vit c, omegas, zinc, selenium, vinoceptine, pro bio gold at night.. > > > Did you add these one at a time? Guest guest
> Hi Dana, should I stop the Zyme prime?? just give the afp pep and no > fenol?? Yes, ZP contains papain/bromelain, and *if* that is your child's problem, then stopping the ZP will help. AFP Peptizyde and No-Fenol do not contain papain/bromelain. >> also I have used the GSE and it dosent seem to do much with > the yeast, do you have any other suggestions?? Oil of oregano, olive leaf extract, a few other ideas from my yeast page here http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm > Im taking her off all the other supplements except the enzymes, the > reason I have her on them is I was chelating and I dont want to do it > w/o the important ones I listed..do you think I should hold back on > the chelation or continue..I have not chelated for 3 weeks as I > wanted to stop b4 I used the ssri med..any thoughts... You need to give vitamin C and/or selenium during chelation. A few other supplements can also be beneficial, especially milk thistle. Others are more " discretionary " . Guest guest
Mandi, Is this along with an anti-yeast diet (no potatoe, rice, corn, etc plus no sugar) or have you found you can kick the yeast with just the GSE and moderate amounts of carbs/fruit/ etc? I am curious as I believe we are also having yeast problems with at least one of my kids. Miti > Hi > Sorry you are having such a tough time right now. Guest guest
, All the posts you have so far sound like what I would have done.... Epsom salts, switch and reduce the magnesium (we have oxide too). Your daughter sounds very much like my son in terms of behavior. If you havent done a CDSA yet, I would. It could be bad bacteria, which to my surprise, is what happened with Devon. The OCD, tantrum, and racing thoughts/behaviors is what we have had for a while. I must say though, a candex treatment REALLY helped. 2 caps at night and 1 in the am. Funny enough, folinic acid seems to calm him down too. Have you tried inositol? not sure what to do.. Hi Im writing this as I really dont know what to do. Machaela is doing really well in some ways and is doing really really bad in others and I dont know what to do. Christmas was very very hard this year, Macheals just gets so obsessed with doing certain things, pushing a picture on a wall so it swings, pushing the ornaments on x-mas trees so they swings, throwing objects down the stairs, it like she has to do it untill it breaks, then she is on to the next things, we even tried to start her on prozac 5mg once a day and now it seems worse..and all of sudden after we put her on the prozac she pees in her panties..I dont know what to do..Last night we went out for supper with my inlaw's once of Machaela's aba therapist watched her and our 2 yr old for 3 hrs, when we got home the place was a mess, she said that between 5 & 7 Machaela was out of control, she pushed the pictures off all the wall, she would pick up her remote control car and throw it, the leap pad was thrown down the stairs, she flushed and flushed the toilet, then down stairstairs she pushed over the old entertaiment center..etc etc etc...What can we do, I have a call into her doctor but he is on vacation untill monday.. Should we try a different ssi medication? I have seemed to have tried so many different supplements.. Right now she is on zyme prime, pep and no fenol, I reduced them to 1/2 cap at each meal as had such bad diarrhea and this was the only thing that seemed to control it..Also she get mg oxide 150mg 3x per day,vit c, omegas, zinc, selenium, vinoceptine, pro bio gold at night.. I need to control of obsession it seems to over take her, I feel like Im missing something and I dont know what to do..We have alot of support from the family, and my parents would do anything for her.. Myself and my husband love her more than words can tell, we feel so helpless, Her 2.5yr old sister loves her so much also..Machaela is 8 years old, diagnosed with autism and she is also deaf..she is nonverbal and has very poor communication skills.. Please let me know what anyone thinks.. Thanks and wishing for a blessed New Year.
Guest guest
do you use the mag oxide for its laxative effect? prozac is a fluorinated med, what is her fluoride intake like? hearing problems can be associated with lead toxcity. > Hi Im writing this as I really dont know what to do. > Machaela is doing really well in some ways and is doing really really > bad in others and I dont know what to do. Guest guest
Hi Prue! Just wanting to know about your brand of Olive Leaf Extract. What form is it in? If liquid, is it a concentrate (i.e. must be mixed with other liquid) or no? What producer/brand is it? It's a local product (WA) isn't it? Sorry to ask all these things. You've posted them before but I can't find it. Glad to hear from you. Thanks in advance for the info. Jaci, Australia > All those things said too, of course. Guest guest
mag oxide is not well absorbed at all, it probably would pay to be using a chelate as well. what was the blood lead level? hair Tests are a beTTer indicator i think, but 'normal' blood levels are normal for a poisoned populaLTION LIKE CHICAGO CHILDREN. using meds is like using a spade for embroidery. i don't really have a criticsm of it in the sense that it is an abandoment of the child and this happens in the feral world so is a natural thing but its not the path of least resistance so its worth working through the supplements.................i think you have to take it as an article of faith that you can do a lot better with supplements which just means work getting something acceptable. > > > Hi Im writing this as I really dont know what to do. > > > Machaela is doing really well in some ways and is doing really > > really > > > bad in others and I dont know what to do.
