Guest guest
Hi I'm guessing here, but wondering if the rash was related to the measles virus coming out of him??? Dana said with her lad that his visual stims came back if she withdrew it completely, though an update is due anyday. Sorry I don;t have more to add MAndi in UK
Guest guest
Hi.. I am stumped here and wanted to ask any thoughts please.. My 22 month old is 9 weeks SCD 100% and dairy free. He takes Kirkmans Super Nu Thera, Enzyme Aide and was taking 10,000-15,000 IU's of Vitamin A (getting this from Super Nu Thera and a Vitamin A drop to avoid overload on Vitamin D that is found in Cod Liver Oil). He did GREAT on this combination with added language, attentiveness, laughing, playing with sister of same age.. just did great. About a 10 days ago I noticed a " chapping' like pinkness on his cheeks and around his mouth... it was not from the weather and the Vitamin A was the last thing added.. he had been on same dosage for about 2 weeks at this point.. around 15,000 IU's. I cut back on the Vitamin A to about 7500 IU's and saw some improvement. Then I totally cut it out by switching vitamins so that he got no A at all. He has been without " A " for a week now and though the pinkness gets better, it does not go away completely. This AM it was as bright as ever. Funny how it fades a bit and then pops back out. Nothing else has changed in his diet. He has developed a cough and his sister just had RSV we think.. but she had no rash or anything like this with it. I began searching for answers beyond Vitamin A toxicity but haven't figured it out yet. I checked on Roseola online and it said it generally has a rash on other parts of body beforehand. He did not have this. I noticed today just a very few " whitehead " like bumps on his stomach area. He seems to feel OK considering he has this nasty cough. The " rash " on face started before the cough --by days. The " rash " also is under the skin evidentally.. his skin is still smoothe and you cannot feel anything at all. He is not quite as interactive or verbalizing as well without the " A " . I began to notice this within a day or so and I " d like to add it back if this is not the cause of this rash/pinkness on the face. I am considering adding back a little bit and seeing if it worsens. I had read the list and thought that most saw gradual consistent improvement when they had " A " toxicity once it was removed. Is it normal that the improvement will not be consistent and that he will continue to regress after a week of being off it?? Makes no sense to me but I know that doesn't mean anything! Thanks for any thoughts on this! Mom to Slater.. SCD 9 weeks/dairy free and PDD/NOS
Guest guest
Hi , Are you giving Slater enzymes? I have been noticing the same issue is my 28 month old Wyatt (in fact I have been meaning to post about it). I can tell it is from the enzymes. I am in sort of a caundry as to what to do about it. I have noticed that if I don't give more than 1/2 cap of an enzyme, then it seems to be OK. But if I give a whole cap of Zyme- Prime (I also tried Similase, BTW, which is a different formulation but still broad spectrum)he gets a pretty severe rash. IT starts a a big blotchy pink spot around his mouth, then gets chapped and even blistered a little. The last one took about 4 days to subside. I was careful not to get the enzymes on his face, so I know that's not it. It can't decide if it is an intolerane to the enzymes, or perhaps yeast die off? Wyatt also has had an ongoing mild rash on other parts of his body - I'm pretty sure they are food reactions. His cheeks tend to get a mottling of little red spots that are smooth to the touch. Sometimes his forearms and thighs have little white or clear bumps. We aren't true SCD, but I started baking with nuts a lot and I'm pretty sure Wyatt is now reacting to almonds. So Slater could be reacting to something in his diet that he didn't react to before (nuts are difficult to digest and tend to be fairly allergenic). We are going to do an IGg food panel on him... Well. let me know if you figure it out! Slater's sypmtoms sound a lot like Wyatt's. We have not ever supplemented with Vit. A. Best, Miti > Hi.. The rash you describe does not sound like the vitamin A toxicity rash that my kids get. It does sound like it might be yeast or even a viral die off, and now the virus is increasing because the A is removed. I would add back the A, maybe a different form [he might not tolerate the A you were giving before]. Start at about 5000 IU and see if he does okay with it.
