Guest guest
Watery diarrhea is always a flag for me. I'd say get him to the pediatrician only to determine the severity of dehydration. It can be hard to balance out so to speak once dehydrated to a certain degree. Myself I'd stop the yeast treatment, just my opinion. My son went through this twice, around the same time in the spring in two consecutive years. They tested for Giardia. No positives, but lime Gatorade was about the only thing he had for about a week. OT: Help with diarrhea My son (3.1, 35 lbs) is in his 3rd day of horrible diarrhea. He has had loose stools for almost a week but it is getting worse - like water - not better. He is drinking 3-4 cups of water a day (about a 1/4 cup every 1/2 hour) and eating almost nothing. He is exhausted but nottotally out of it (I would be listless if I had it as bad as he has...) I am alternating 1) 1/2 tsp Nystatin with 2 drops GSE and 2) water w/1 cuturelle and 1 Probiogold every 3-4 hours so he gets each 2-3 times a day. He has been on both of these for several months before all this started and I thought this would help. I have removed all other vitamins and minerals and have not changed anything in his diet or supplements for at least 3 weeks. Am I making this worse by giving him Nystatin/GSE and probiotics? Does anyone have any other suggestions or do I just continue to wait this out? For my son, this sounds like it would be bacteria or intolerance to a supplement. > > I am alternating 1) 1/2 tsp Nystatin with 2 drops GSE and 2) water > w/1 cuturelle and 1 Probiogold every 3-4 hours so he gets each 2-3 > times a day. Remove the GSE, because if it is bacteria, it sounds like the GSE has killed all the yeast and is now allowing bad bacteria to overgrow. I had this problem with my son, yes it is very nasty.
