When you say a " mess " , does that mean a very runny bm, very liquid diarrhea? Does it have sticky black specks in it? For an impaction, the hard bm stays in the bowel, and other bm slips around it. So the bm you see is what slipped around the impaction, but the impaction is still there. I have read this problem occurring with certain probiotics, and Primal Defense I *think* is one of them. I would stop the Primal Defense and wait for normal bms [or at least better bms than you have here], then consider a different probiotic, see if that helps. You might also want to take him to a doctor for an abdominal x-ray, to learn whether there really is an impaction. Dana
Guest guest
When my son has a yeast flair-up he has the same constipation/ diarrhea issue. How much PD are you giving? constipated but then messy? > When my ds was in the middle of antibiotics and going crazy, I > started him on Primal Defense. Guest guest
We have had the same problem. No movement for a day or two, then soft BM's. I also believed that it was most likely impaction. But before we went in for x-rays, we did a trail of secretin ( last monday) he has been going everyday since. The BM's are densly packed, which leads me to believe that when he was not going everyday, there must have been some blockage and only the soft stuff was getting through. If our son goes back to that same cycle, we will have him checked. I suggest you check for impaction also. Guest guest
Thanks, Mel. I'll be talking to the ped. today and will follow up on this. Glad you're having success with secretin! > We have had the same problem. No movement for a day or two, then soft BM's. > I also believed that it was most likely impaction.
