Guest guest Posted December 17, 2003 Report Share Posted December 17, 2003 I agree with Mandi. It is a condition called Pica and it is said to be caused by a zinc or folic acid deficiency. With my son, it wasn't an issue of zinc or folic acid either. When he did get more bugs in his stomach he was chewing on things a lot more. When I would correct this with Lactobacillus and other supplements it would resolve itself. He used to suck through three, four or five shirts a day. He couldn't help it. Sheri>> We're in St. Louis...this is my friend's child. I'm not sure they would go an alternative medicine route anyway, since they don't have much money...is there anything I can give her? I read one source is the leaded gasoline that of course is no longer used.
