Guest guest
Vicky - what a great story! I'm very excited for you. We are using something similar to the Ambrotose, but in two different products. Arabinogalactan fiber, for which I use ARA6 powder, and Manapol Aloe, which I buy in the powder. They also are expensive, and I buy from my DAN doc who recommended them. I know that GNC also carries arabinogalactan fiber, they call it ColonClear. However, while my son has been improving gradually over the past several months, I can't say if its because of the ARA6 or the Manapol Aloe, or all the other supplements, enzymes, and probiotics he gets. I'm just glad that all together, its working! Best hopes for your continues success! - pam For anyone who's curious, here's our current daily supplement schedule for my son who is 3.3 yo, 31 pounds. - Kirkman Everyday Multiple - 2 caps - Kirkman Everyday Companion - 3/4 tsp - ARA6 arabinogalactan powder - 1 tsp - Manapol Aloe powder - 1/2 tsp - Kirkman DetoxAid - 2 caps - Kirkman NAC 100mg - 1 cap - Kirkman Vitamin C - 1/4 tsp (1100mg) - Kirkman Magnesium Citrate - 1 tsp (400mg) - Houston AFP Peptizyde - 3 capsules (1 per meal) - Houston NoFenol - 3 capsules (1 per meal) - Metagenics Ultra Flora Plus - 1 cap - Labs MCT Oil - 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp per day

Yes, Ambrotose is a Mannatech product. My daughter has been taking it for over a year now. Originally, we did not use the Ambrotose with the enzymes. First, we did enzymes. Then, we started Ambrotose and dropped the enzymes. Then, we added the enzymes back, along with the Ambrotose. So far, we have seen more improvement with her since she has been on BOTH products at the same time. What is the scd theory and why would carbohydrates cause a problem? --Vicky

Guest guest
>>>> Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've been here. Probably at least a year or more. Hello, Vicky! So nice to hear from you. Thanks for the wonderful update. It is good to hear from people and getting a sense of what works over time. Your situation seems very logical (Captain!) LOL My assessment would be the Houston enzymes were working well and helping heal the gut along with food breakdown (gut healing average given at 3-6 months, could be longer). As the gut heals the cells in along the lining grow again and can start reproducing the natural enzymes. Thus, taking enzymes helps to restore natural enzyme production, not decrease it. By the time you stopped enzymes, the body could be producing what it needed itself - no regression. The other supplement went on giving good results. It is also reasonable that you would see even more improvement when the enzymes were put back in, as they only further additional food breakdown and immune system support. Since most people eat more cooked food than raw, most people do better with some additional enzymes. Perhaps the enzymes were even making the other supplement more effective (much like enzymes + anti-biotics or enzymes + anti-yeast meds have a synergistic effect). Of course, there are a few studies showing how oats enhance gut healing as well. The wheat may come along in time, but it is so good to hear your little girl is better! On the SCD, I do not see any conflict. SCD theory says that adverse microbial gut bugs are at the heart of many gastro problems. The key is to eliminate any foods that may require the intestinal enzymes because if the gut is injured, the intestinal enzymes will not be there. Thus, the undigested food will become food for adverse bacteria and problems. So you only eat food not requiring those enzymes, the bad gut bugs die-off, and you get better. They also include probiotics in yogurt, cheese, or supplements to help the good bacteria get established. I think the SCD helps in very extreme cases. Some people that did not see good results with enzymes, did see improvement with SCD. And some people prefer food eliminations over taking enzymes. The probiotics in the yogurt would be a source of enzymes, because probiotic do produce some enzymes (depends on strain). However, it is very strict, but hopefully only for a limited time. So it may be another way of doing the same thing. Taking enzymes directly is also breaking down foods so nutrients are absorbed, thus eliminating 'leftovers' for any adverse inhabitants and facilitating gut healing. .
