Thank You again. These things you suggest, is there any point where the body is

able to self regulate without needing this supplementation, or is this a chronic

state because our dietary choices don't provide the nutrition they should?

Just to add to what I think you already figured out~Don't go back to

this doctor. I have not heard one good thing about him except from a

personal friend of his that tried to convince me to take my son to

him. I had been pre-warned. See a real DAN doctor or pediatritian

to get the meds you need. My son is on Nystatin forever! We get it

compounded and the RX came from a Nurologist in Los Angeles, Dr.

Naparko (I might of spelled her name wrong). I use the DAN

protocol for our supplements, I've done DMSA/ALA chelation, and my

son is going good (almost normal!). I decide what to do/give my son,

not any doctor. I attend every conference and meeting avail to learn

and prepare my next step. If you want to see our story from the last

two years, email me at bluerus@... and I'll be glad to send

it. I help lots of parents who don't know where to turn next. We

are all in the same boat. But, you can't trust everyone, that is

just a fact of life. That doctor is out for the cash, or he wouldn't

use the same protocol for every child.

i think you ar being unfair to goldberg, his interest comes from his

wife having ms and having gone down the viral route there. also he

has done sone work with spect? scanning and brain blood flow. its

just a very medical paradigm and it sounds like other doctors in that

the treatment and meds never stop. is there an alternative?

if you supplement to boost body functions then i think you can keep

out of the medical arena.

nystain forever implies some reworking imo.

It's a great book. Doesn't go into anything in tremendous detail but gives

information of possible avenues to pursue, what testing might be useful, etc.

Thank you so much for your reply. I'd have to respectfully disagree with regards

to his " using the same protocol for every child " . He was very blunt in our first

meeting that he could only help us if the etiology of ph's issue was

immune/viral related. That's perhaps why his protocol seems to treat every child

the same, but he only takes on patients that have this as the heart of their

problem. He tested ph initially for all metals, and ph's blood work came

back very low to non-existent for all metals. Even many virus's that I suspected

like CMV and others turned out to be non-issues, Thanks be to God. However,

Herpes 6 was an issue for ph, and the way ph's situation unfolded, well,

I went to Dr. Goldberg, sort of already knowing there was a

fungal/bacterial/viral issue at the heart of his autism. I'm very interested in,

and keep printing all the natural antivirals people on this board are posting. I

had hoped St. 's Wort, along with the Ojibwa Tea, might be a way to go,

unfortunately, dosage and purity are such issues with the St. 's Wort, it's

almost as bad as the meds. The full spectrum lights are something we will be

buying this weekend, for every room in the house. I finally e-mailed Dr.

Goldberg's office. He called me back. Turns out, the Nizoral may be doing

exactly what he wants, but, the illness in the beginning and the illness the

week before we went in, his food allergies coming back high, all those things

may have been interfering with my ability to judge how well ph is

responding. He does not want us to give ph the SSRI right now, in fact, he

said we could discuss it further after some more labs next visit. Right now he

just wants to continue with the antiviral and antifungal. Which is what I

wanted. His philosophy he said, is to do the least with the meds. necessary to

get the body doing what it should be doing naturally. I can agree to that.

ph, being on the diet for so long, and using the ABA therapy for so long,

depends on whether his immune system can develop it's own antibodies to the

herpes, having been helped by the Valtrex, and having the fungal issue taken out

of the equation. I could give ph an antifungal forever, if I had to, but I'd

sure like his body to not need it. Thank you again for your response. I admire

your educating yourself, and then generously sharing your knowledge with others.

It's amazing how lonely it can feel, when you have to make these decisions, and

the wrong decision has the potential to injure your child.--- Original Message

I hear you as I too am going through the whole anti-viral thing it

is amazing how much you think you have learned only to be confronted

with even more that you don't. The task of finding the " right "

balance and treatment for your child can be a really kick in the

teeth sometimes. The days go by so fast yet seem so slow when

looking for the " cure " (so to speak). I always keep you in my mind

as it is your story that puched me to find out more about all of

this. Good luck and god bless you and your family. Dena

Actually I'd like to get that book, can never have enough info. Another book

that mentions him favorably and a Doctor who admires and recommended him to me

is Dr. McCandeless. She wrote, Starving Brains. I'm actually in the process of

re-reading it.
