Guest guest
There is a sugar free, gfcf syrup that you can use from Kirkmans Lab. It comes in several different flavors. I use the rasberry flavored to mix for my son. 1/2 teaspoon is all I use. He takes it pretty well. new to group and need some suggestions I know this is controversial, but someone on the GFCF site suggested I join this group to ask about what enzymes are the best tasting and not to get into a argument about they work or not. We are going on vacation in a couple of weeks and just to be safe I thought I would order my GFCF son enzymes. We have tried the Houston ones and they were just horrible tasting last year and I couldn't get my son to take them in anything undetected. Any help would be appreciated! W. Guest guest
This is a bit of a worry for me. I have just ordered nf, zp and afp from Houston's. My son won't take anything that tastes bad. I wonder if chocolate masks the taste? Guest guest
Debbie I don;t think they taste bad at all, regular Pep is a bit smelly, but really my son takes other supps that are truely YUK, enzymes are cool and there are plenty ways you can mix them anyways, don't worry Mandi in UK > This is a bit of a worry for me. Guest guest
Thanks Mandi. Would you mind sharing what improvements/changes you have experienced since starting enzymes. Debbie OOoh, that would be along list This is a cut and paste from a letter I wrote the Ped in Jan 2002 - so 6 months on Pep and Zyme at this stage Among the fantastic gains we have seen since starting the enzymes in June 2001: Ø Has learnt to swim (with armbands) Ø Potty trained Ø Big leap in receptive language, following commands, puts rubbish in bin, flushes the loo! Ø 'hanging out' with his brothers (aged 6 & 7) Ø Initiating play with dad and brothers now (just mum before) Ø Annual IEP needed 6 month review - 27 of 38 targets achieved Ø Big increase in 'word-like' sounds, gone are the gutteral 'meng' and mung' with tongue low in the mouth, now 'mum-mey' and even once, a perfectly clear 'mummy' whilst looking straight into my eyes. (At 12 months he said, mama, dada and bay-bee). He is also experimenting with blowing. Ø He is now emotional - crying when told 'no', stamping his feet in temper - great 'normal' terrible two type behaviours! Ø Affection spontaneous, natural and more 'normal' Ø Teachers (Portfield) reporting " 100% productivity " Improvemnts have continued with the addition of No Fenol when it came out - helping control gut bugs and phenol issues I never really understood before. Gosh it was weird going back to that mail - he has come much further since then and this list reminds me how much further. We started chelating in March 2002 and I'm sure the enzymes helped with some gut healing and definitely the No Fenol and Pep (on empty stomach) play a major part in gut big control. Sam biggest issue is that he still does not have spoken words but..............he communicates very well with PECS gesture, body language, facial expression, he is social within the family unit and completely cute to boot! Guest guest
It's the original Peptizyde that has that unique aroma and taste. I am able to get my son to take it mixed in a small amount of Wyler's drink mix (similar to Kool-Aid, but colorless). He also uses a straw to help with the taste issue. The AFP Peptizyde should be a dandy fine alternative for your child because it does not contain papain, which has the strong flavor. No-Fenol and Zyme Prime shouldn't be much of a problem as far as taste and odor either. > I know this is controversial, but someone on the GFCF site suggested > I join this group to ask about what enzymes are the best tasting and > not to get into a argument about they work or not. Guest guest
ITs that darn Peptizide lol PU!! My daughter, however takes it no problem now...it was hard at first though because her olfactory senses are acute. A straw was a big help-she sucks it right down the back of her throat with juice. You could try mixing in something stronger like peanut butter or chocolate. I think the AFP does not have the smell/taste so you could try that also. I do not think any other enyzmes compare to Houston's so my advice would be to try really hard to get your son to tolerate those. Good luck-hope your vacation is great! -- - In , " heatherworkman2001 " <sworkman@t...> wrote: > I know this is controversial, but someone on the GFCF site suggested > I join this group to ask about what enzymes are the best tasting and > not to get into a argument about they work or not. Guest guest
For really gross tasting sups, we take a little dry jello mix, add the sup and a little water and no problem.

Guest guest
I've heard the original pep was bad tasting. I got tired of waiting to see if ph would finish his enzymes with each meal, so I empty capsules in small cup of water, we too use the AFP, NF and ZP and ph drinks them through a straw. I know he's had them, and ph has never complained of the taste. I think it tastes like dry choc cake mix. new to group and need some suggestions I know this is controversial, but someone on the GFCF site suggested I join this group to ask about what enzymes are the best tasting and not to get into a argument about they work or not. Guest guest
My son is suspicious of everything but he has no problem with the AFP Peptizyde, No Fenol and EnzymeAid. He took the Zyme Prime also but we had to discontinue it because he had a reaction to it every time I tried it. I tasted them myself and to me they are virtually tasteless. He will eat them sprinkled on his food or mixed in V-8 juice before the meal. Lynne in VA
Guest guest
Kyson loves chocolate milk (Quick) drink. Will it hurt to mix them in that? He drinks it warm. For school I am going to try putting them in melted chocolate. Debbie Re: new to group and need some suggestions I've heard the original pep was bad tasting.
