Guest guest
Hi my six year old is 40lbs - was 26 at 4 years - so you are ok but what has helped with us - I use Advacados on/in everything and then also chase him around with spoonfuls! Also if he is tolerant to almonds slap on the almond butter with advacado used like butter - yummy!. Regards TerriNZ How to gain weight? My 2 yo autistic son weights 24 lbs. He is GFCFSF, limited phenol, limited carbs. He mostly eats vegetables, pears, and meat! He just eats a little little bit of nuts, oil, rice and corn cereals, and potatoes based milk. He is never going to gain weight with this and I am desesperate. He looks so skinny. His stools are also loose since I cut back on the grains because of possible yeast. Any advice on something nutricious he could eat? or something that would make his stools more formed? What about the nuts? Does it tend to constipate or not? He seems to tolerate them pretty well, except almonds and peanuts, so I was thinking of increasing the quantity. On the other hand, it might not be very good for his omega 6 vs omega 3 ratio... He is on enzymes, I just switched from Kirkman's to HNI's, lots of supplements, and we chelate every week end. Any idea very welcome! Thanks, Frederique
Guest guest
, in the Minnesota Starvation Experiment, the guys were all back to and about 10% over their starting weight in about a year. At two years, all back to starting weight. The body, as a whole, seems to have wants/wishes/desires/and drives that have not one thing to do with what our head wishes, lol! Google for the Wiki on the MSE, and there's this: http://www.zoeharcombe.com/2009/12/the-minnesota-starvation-experiment/ Seems the solution is *calories* -- massive amounts. . . xox > > Hi all- > > Me again! Devyns endoscopy and dilation went well. It's been about 3 weeks now. He does have quite a few ulcers in the distal esophagus from acid reflux. He takes Prevacid twice a day, but without the wrap he still gets pretty bad reflux. If its not improved in 3 months then they will probably re-wrap him. > But I digress! He is an otherwise healthy 12 almost 13 year old boy who is as skinny as a rail. All he wants is to put on a little meat. He doesn't throw up food anymore, so that's not a problem, but no matter what I feed him he never gains weight! I see a lot of weight loss posts in here but mainly due to vomiting. I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue even though they can keep food down? Is this common with achalasia? And does anyone have suggestions on how to help my son gain a few pounds? I'm sure his metabolism doesn't help, but he is desperate to not be the skinniest kid next year! You can still see all his ribs. > > Thanks guys! > > Sent from my iPhone >
Guest guest
This is my own personal experience. I was rail-thin during all the BS ineffective GI treatment, and only gained weight when pain management was suggested by my PCP who was indeed treating a " legitimate " condition according to " professional practice. " Then I became very athletic, my weight increased to 200lbs. I was able to eat healthy, nutritional food with much less difficulty and pain, and I was working and had a Life. Now, thanks to DEA's War on Doctors and no treatment whatsoever, I'm back to a walking corpse physique, unable to ingest enough protein, shakes or nutrition. Earlier, when healthy, I would make dairy shakes from pure ingredients and add supplements as necessary. The protein derived from whey content can also be found in juice drinks. Now, it's even too diificult to drink these heavy shakes or gritty whey. Steve > > Have you tried giving him protein shakes? Guest guest
I have tried Boost, Ensure and even Carnation Instant Breakfasts but he doesn't like the taste even if I mask it with ice cream. Does the regular protein powder have the same " flavor " ? If not I will have to buy some! I knoe high fat foods would help too, but I want what he eats to be somewhat healthy- not all ice cream and milkshakes I suppose since he's not in real trouble with his weight right now he would need to decide how much he really wants to gain weight. Thanks for the suggestions! I don't know how I got along before without you guys! Guest guest
Try a packet of Raw Protein or Raw Meal from Garden of Life. The taste is not bad. It's my breakfast this morning. Food doesn't seem to be working all that well. Good luck. Guest guest
I'm wit da kiddo: they're ALL vile. I couldn't even do them when I was starving. (Plus, pretty much all they are is sugar, sugar, rancid oil, and a cheap vitamin, lol!) I think it's the cheap vitamin that makes 'em taste so awful, though. Ice cream is a *whole lot* healthier -- especially if there's no " high fructose corn syrup* in it. . . . *Fat* is turning out to be GOOD for ya, lol! But I'd 'spect it's gonna take another thirty years for *that* message to hit the streets. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=carbs-against-cardio xox > > I have tried Boost, Ensure and even Carnation Instant Breakfasts but he doesn't like the taste even if I mask it with ice cream. Guest guest
I like cream of chicken soup and I add some rice. Enough to keep it smooth but also fill me up. I also found that I love butternut squash soup with crackers and butter. I add butter to the soup sometimes also. There are also all kinds of smoothies you can make and I also really like sorbet -some healthier options!Refried beans with queso cheese. I have spent tons of money on stuff I hated as well. My food processor has been a great investment. ________________________________ From: <grneyegrrl@...> " achalasia " <achalasia > Cc: " achalasia " <achalasia > Sent: Sunday, May 6, 2012 8:02 AM Subject: Re: Re: How to gain weight?  I have tried Boost, Ensure and even Carnation Instant Breakfasts but he doesn't like the taste even if I mask it with ice cream.
