Guest guest
My daughter's pediatrician recommended Kondremul for 's constipation problems. He said that as it is emulsified mineral oil, it doesn't make the bowel dependent on it for moving things along and it doesn't leach out important minerals like regular mineral oil does. Some kids react to the vanilla flavoring in it, however. It really does work. Kondremul, good or bad? > Hi all. > Our GI just rx'd Olivia something called Kondremul. Guest guest
It's basically a flavored and emulsified mineral oil. If you are worried about reactions to the flavoring, then just use plain mineral oil. Keep it refrigerated and it will " taste " better--just give it right off the spoon. At very high doses for prolonged time periods it can prevent the body from getting enough vitamins A D and K and so you may want to supplement add'l A/D/K if you are on it for a long time. It does put a " coating " on the GI tract and it is a petroleum based product so you might want to think about whether or not the long term prognosis for the gut outweighs the short term success with mineral oil. Guest guest
I used this with my older son (NT)when he used to hold his BMs.. It worked quite well but took a while to get him over holding it. We used 1 tsp am and pm. He never got loose stools, it just lubracated. You could see the " orange oil " floating in the toilet after a BM. When you give it to your child it kinds of reminds you of fluff (remember fluffernutter). I am not sure if it is gfcf if you are concerned, but it was very safe. > My daughter's pediatrician recommended Kondremul for 's constipation > problems.
