(AP) — Trace amounts of a toxic mold found at Marcus Whitman Junior High School pose no immediate threat to students or staff, school officials said. Bill Lahmann, superintendent of the South Kitsap School District, said test results this week found the stachybotrys fungi to be confined to interior wall spaces. No illnesses have been reported. Experts say when the mold spores become airborne, they pose a greater risk. The mold thrives in moist conditions. Ailments linked to stachybotrys include chronic migraine headaches, bloody noses, stomachaches, dizziness and respiratory problems. Lahmann said the problem was suspected two weeks ago when a staff member saw residue leaking from a ceiling.
