Guest guest
Hi all. I just sent some blood to Bowen Research in FL (see www.bowen.org). They look for the actual bug in your blood and send pictures of your blood to your doctor with their results for Lyme, Erlichia and Babesia. Does anyone have any comments on the accuracy of their testing? Thanks,
Guest guest
I don't know anything about Bowen Research or the testing they do, but I question the accuracy of any test for a spirochete not done in an atmosphere devoid of air. I also have the impression lyme is more likely to be found in deep tissues than in blood. Rita B
Guest guest
-- I have had the test through the Bowen Lab. The first test was in January 2000, the second test was in December 2000. Both highly positive. I have been on IV abx for 2 1/2 years and still I have these critters in my blood and cannot seem to get rid of them. I tested positive western blot (NDL Lab) IGM, but my pcr (NDL lab) was negative, and my IGG western blot was negative (blood all drawn on the same day). I was told that the pcr may have been negative because I was only off abx for 5 days prior to the test. I think it really helps to actually see the pictures of the spirochete. If you want I could scan my pics and attach them to an email so you can see what they look like. Sometimes this disease gets so overwhelming that it is so hard to function. I wish they would quit persecuting our doctors and put the money and energy into finding a cure! Guest guest
Good Morning , You asked: I have a question for the group... My Dr. wants to put me on medicine to lower my cholesterol, they are called " statins " like zocor, or tricor. These medicines are known to cause liver damage, and you have to be monitored closely. Has anyone on this list, had any good luck with any kind of medicine of this sort. I would be interested in hearing about alternative medicine or statins. Any information you have along this area will be greatly appreciated. I take " Cholestryamine Regular P60EAEON " for my high cholesterol, it has brought it down...it is the best one for the liver according to my heptoligist, Cardiologist and GI.... Laughter is healing, music to the heart, it makes people wonder what the heck you are up too... Soooooo, laugh a lot, love a lot, and be healthy, especially love a lot, the more love you give the more you get in return..... Be An ORGAN DONOR, you could save a life..... Guest guest
genaro33@... Subject: Dr. Cabot's book I wonder if anyone in the group has tried the Liver Cleansing Diet in Dr. Cabot's book. She claims that frequently autoimmune disease comes from having a sluggish liver. According to the book, many times the diet gets rid of autoimmune problems and the need for Prednisone. Hi, I have followed Dr Cabot's Liver Cleansing Diet and taken the régime of herbs she suggest taking. BUT (there's that little word..LOL) check with your doctor, not everything suggested will work for everyone.. Again all my specialist approved my doing this,,, Laughter is healing, music to the heart, it makes people wonder what the heck you are up too... Guest guest
<<Certain cheeses and yogurt are allowed and encouraged on the SCD because they do not contain lactose. >> Which ones? And if my son and I are getting stomach cramps after eating dairy foods, and the AFP isn't helping, could that indicate more of a problem with lactose than with casein? And which enzyme would help with it, if that is the case? Is there one? M
Guest guest
SCD recommends you make your own yoghurt because the yoghurt in the shops is not fermented long enough for the lactic acid bacteria to consume the available lactose. You need a 24 hour fermentation process. I have a little yoghhurt maker with 6 pots that sit on a plastic try that heats to 40 degrees celcius. marvelous thing. so when I make yoghurt it is no trouble. But still wonderful boy of mine reacts..... As for cheese, I can't remember offhand but it's probably the longer fermented cheeses like cheddar as opposed to the soft ones. You'd have to check. Basically, the milder the cheese the more likely there is lactose! Oh well, there goes mozzerella out the window.

Guest guest
Thanks Jan and Joan. I could always use more prayers and support! Can't hurt! <<Rita, Oh my, you have really been through the mill, with all this and to have achalasia on top of this. Please take care of yourself, and hope that things will get better soon. This is a good place to write and vent any feelings you want to, we all need to do that some times. Hugs, Jan Rita, my heart goes out to you ! You are really getting more than your fair share of trouble. My neighbour is a compulsive gambler and also lost everything. They are also battling to pay off debts and get life together again. Just know that we will be thinking of you and praying for you. Hugs, Joan>>
Guest guest
<<Rita, By SX , do you mean the myotomy surgery, or what, sorry to be so dense! After my recovery in a couple of months, maybe we can " meet up " somewhere! Jan in NKY>> Yes, and I know officially have it scheduled. October 6th. I'm really not nervous (yet), just anxious! I want to be able to eat in public again like a semi normal person without toting about my own luke-warm water because it is so hard to get them to understand " warm water, no ice. " And then only being able to consume small amounts because I am so FULL from the water! Then how about having to go to the bathroom all the time to either vomit or urinate because of what you have consumed. I'm done with this fun game. Living with my rheumatiod arthitis is quite enough! I can't fix that, but if I can fix this problem, I'm jumping in line! LOL Rita
