I wanted to ask the group a question. If your child has normal BM's, goes regularly (at least once a day but no more than twice), and has no rash, spots, itching, etc, is it possible he has no yeast problems??? I ask because I have been giving Nicky No Fenol and not getting any real reaction (other than the first day when he was in a bad mood). He's up to almost a half cap/meal and still no reaction. Just seems fine. so what's up? I keep hearing people say they have die off, left right and centre. Am I misunderstanding symptoms? if he has no negative reaction to No Fenol, is it possibl he has no yeast problem? marti

Well, i think it is helping with him tolerating foods that are highly phenolic, but nicky's reactions to phenols are not always immediate. sometimes it builds up and then you get the spaced out behaviour and a few off days. I've been giving him very high phenols to test out the NF. Tonight I gave him coconut milk for example. I'll look for red ears before bedtime or as he goes to sleep. Yesterday morning I gave him crushed macadamia nuts in his pancakes (I'm using nut flours instead of rice these days when possible) and macedamia are just huge in phenols. But no obvious problems so NF must have done its job. I've seen some red cheeks with the skin appearing a little dry with tiny tiny dry pimply like things on his cheeks. I saw this with the introduction of both the other enzymes, but it doesn't bother me yet. We'll see if it goes away like the other times. Yeah, so far it it looks good. I'd be grateful for relief from constant phenol worry. It would expand Nicky's fatty acid intake by giving me more variety on nuts and seeds. It would make make baking a little easier and allow for more blueberries/raspberries/etc in muffins (the only way nicky eats fruit). So, I'll keep you posted! Guest guest
You could call the company and ask about the coloring but right off it sounds artificial. I don't know anything about Nystatin except that some use it for yeast. You could call about the expiration too. As far as determining yeast, unless there is a fungal rash or 'yeasty' bms, I don't think there is one conclusive way. I think they might be able to tell from a stool sample but that is not a guarantee either. My doctor said that everyone has some yeast even if it is not out of control, so that may appear in the sample. On the other hand, you may get a sample that shows a typical amount of yeast, when you have a really bad problem. This is complicated by the fact that yeast can be in different places in the body...places that a stool test may not detect - or a bm may not indicate. In the yeast control books, most give a checklist of symptoms and if you have, say, 75% of them they you should consider yeast. But that the best measure is to simply do a yeast control diet, or take an antifungal of some kind and see if there is die-off and/or improvement. Yeast appears to be common enough but you may not have it. We didn't. I wouldn't rely on No-Fenol as an indicator either - finding out it was keen on killing yeast was sort of a pleasant side-effect. Are you seeing any other benefits or problems from No-Fenol? .
Guest guest
I have read here somewhere that if you start with a real low dosage and gradually increase it, the problems that come from the die off are almost un noticeable. As I have been reading the posts, this is just my observations from what others have stated... BV Re: Nystatin/also Is it possible no yeast reaction to No Fenol? When my kids have yeast, their bms are fluffy and stringy, and one of them gets hyper. I give GSE and the bms go back to being formed, and the hyper goes away. Nothing else. No " in-between " stage of bad behaviors or anything else. Just goes from bad bms and behavior, to good bms and behavior. Yes I realize I am lucky LOL Dana
