Hi Valentina,

I got some information from you before Xmas on Vinpocetine, I then went through

our local chemist to order some - (New Zealand) and it proved to be very

difficult and expensive, so hence I didn't order it, can you tell me where you

order yours from - i.e the brand etc, the name and the amounts you give, we are

keen to try this, and so will order via the internet.

Can you also tell me how it is going, if you are continuing to see benefits from

this product.

Thanks

Cheers H

I buy mine from a store here... just a grocery store... It costs around $7-8...

If you want to, I can send you some. Just let me know your address.

> and the amounts you give,

I gave my son when we started 5mg 3 times a day (so 15mg a day). Everybody else

thinks this is too high. It worked for Denis :)

After about a month or so I decreased the dose. I only give him now 2,5mg 3

times a day.

I never stopped it, so I can't tell anymore if Denis' amazing progresses in the

last few months are only because of Vinpocetine or from something else too (we

added other supplements in the meantime), but I am pretty sure Vinpocetine has a

lot to do with it. The areas that improved when we added Vinpocetine are better

and better every day.

So... if you want to try it... just let me know your address. I can send you

some. No problem.

Valentina,

What exactly does it do? And/or what is it?

Thanks!

Vinpocetine is a supplement. It is used to improve oxygenation of the brain

and blood flow, mostly, but from this come many other benefits.

My son started to hear better with Vinpocetine, and so - to speak (finally!),

his attention improved, his fine motor skills - amazing!, his mood, he became

so obviously intelligent that sometimes I simply cannot believe it. It is

almost scary.

I have no idea if Vinpocetine alone did these. I give him so many

supplements... I can't even count them anymore. I guess once his brain was

given more oxygen, more glucose, more whatever was needed, it just started to

work better in the right direction. But what Vinpocetine improved for sure

(really fast) was hearing, fine motor skills, aphasia (he finally gets the

language " thing " !).

I tried Vinpocetine too, but it didn't work for me. Andy Cutler has in his

book some comments about people who will not have success with Vinpocetine.

If you're interested, I can write them...

Ok, here it goes: (I will also include his comments about what Vinpocetine is)

" Vinpocetine - an extract of periwinkle - 15mg/d - is used to improve memory and

cognitive function and

increase brain function and blood flow. It raises cyclic GMP by inhibiting the

enzyme which degrades that.

Vinpocetine is known to prevent and reverse neurological damage caused by aging,

and to assist in healing some

closed skull brain injuries. It makes you more aware, alert, able to

concentrate, and brightens you

emotionally. It increases turnover of the neurotransmitters serotonin and

noradrenalin. It also helps

alleviate phenomena like hot flashes that occur during menopause.

Migraines are due to excessive blood flow caused by increased blood flow to the

front part of the brain caused

by extra cGMP so vinpocetine may aggravate them.

Typical dosage is 5mg three times per day. Substantially impaired patients often

experience greater relief if

started on 10mg three times per day for 30 days and then switch over to 5mg

three times per day.

Vinpocetine can have some heart side effects such as arrythmias. People who have

all three of the following

symptoms may have too much cGMP and should avoid Vinpocetine or take it

gingerly: migraines, changes in color

perception, easy engorgement of the genital tissues. "

Hope this helps in taking the decision :)
